Is 4200lbs. a deal breaker?
I love the ZL1 looks, I love the tech, I love the 580hp/556tq. But...4200lbs.!! This car is going to need every one of those 580 horses.
My plan was to buy/order the ZL1 as soon as it was available to do so. If the 4200 lbs. are true, I'm going to have to wait. I now need to drive the car first before I put down my approx. 55k. Just wondering if the 4200lbs. is a deal breaker for some others who were looking to buy the ZL1.

Chevrolet has not released an official weight for the ZL1. The 4200 pounds that individuals are referencing is just an estimate that appeared in an article on the web. Let's reserve judgment until Chevrolet officially announces a weight for the ZL1.

Weight has a big effect on reliability and integrity of parts. That is my concern.
OP, to answer your question. Yes. |

I'm having a hard time believing that it will be 4200lbs ... I'm thinking that is a guess on the high side.. I'm thinking this car will come in somewhere between 4000 and 4100 lbs .. (hoping much closer to 4000).

A couple of thoughts.....
Have I ever misled you? Seriously? Who was it that said "Keep the faith......." who was it that said ".....it WILL look like the concept?" Who said "you're gonna LOVE this car"? Who said "Prepare for Perma-Grin"? Who CONTINUALLY says "Wait until you see it in person"? and WHO CONTINUALLY says "wait until you drive it"? Now - you don't have to believe me - But for those who know me - TRUST ME - this car is gonna blow you away - ESPECIALLY when you get it on a road course. I don't care if it weighs 4,500 pounds (...........well - OK -- weight is our enemy, so I guess I need to be careful of making that claim.......) ..........BUT - I'm gonna serve up some words to a few people in a couple of months............ TRUST ME. Meanwhile - we have not published a weight...........

An example of what 580 HP in a 4000 lb car can do....don't worry, the ZL1 will be fast.

I really have no plans to make a race/track car out of my ZL1, so the 4200 lb. figure does not matter to me, whether it is fact of not. My own guess is that it will be less than this figure.
