Labor to much?
I am thinking about having CAI, Headers, Rear O/D Cog, Fuel Injector, ZL1 Fuel Pump, and ADM Fuel Controller installed but the labor alone for all of that is roughly 1200.00. Is it just me or does that seem a little high? What do you guys think that should run? I'm not trying to be super cheap, I'm not trying to find out how low you guys have gotten all this done from a buddy that has a shop. I'm just trying to figure out if this seems fair. Thanks.

I mean, it's high, but it's also in the realm. Headers alone is 2-300. I imagine book time on a fuel pump is a few hours, bringing you to $6-700. I'd comfortably pay around $900-$1k for the same work I suppose.

The real trick is finding a reputable shop in Chicago that can do the work ,correctly, the first time, for that price.
Does this include the tune? T.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix. Labor to much?

No, does not include the tune which I understand; that in an of it self is a whole other job. Yea, I'm very confident I have the right place, I just like to do my homework. Last sports car I owned I did all the work myself, but that was years ago. It was kind of a little here, little there type project so it's hard for me to tell total labor. After posting and thinking about it, it does seem fair. Thanks for the reassurance though everyone. Can't wait!!!

It sounds about right, given an estimate of a rate of $100 per hour, I can see about 12 hours of billable work there. I believe labor rates for aftermarkert parts are straight hours, however many it might be, to do the work. Where as when you go to a dealership, they have a preset amount of hours to bill for a particular job, regardless of if it takes the tech half the preset time amount to do the job. That is how a good tech makes more money in service departments. They could crank out twice as many billable jobs for half the time.
