Flat black stripes, black bowties, black chrome wheels...

also posted on ls1tech--

Let me know what you guys think...
Here's a couple pics stock. Sorry for the crap quality, i've got some 12 megapixel shots but don't have a usb cable for the camera right now. iPhone pics for now...

Before:

During:

After:

Bowties are gloss black. Stripes are like the convertible concept, not like factory stripes, painted flat black. Wheels are painted black chome.
Also, if you notice in the last picture there's something red on the cowl on the hood. It's an SS badge, just like on the back of the car.

Let me know what you guys think, more, better pics to come.

Bill, Your car looks great!! Correct me if Im wrong but isn't Flat Black very hard to paint as in NOOOO room for error as you can't sand them??

I wanted to have my stripes painted Flat Black to replace my vinyl but 2 different painters discouraged me from doing so.

Brownstone- why cant you sand them? That sucks because these pics are seriously making me consider flat black stripes.

The 5th picture seems too flat and the 7th picture seems too glossy though whats going on?

I noticed the glossy photo as well but thought maybe it was in my head.

I guess I should have clarified. They both told me that unlike base coat clear coat no mistakes can be wet sanded out of flat black which makes sense. You basically have to get them perfect the first time or its start completely over.

Maybe someone w/ painting experience can chime in on painting flat black stripes

Yeah brownstone there's is def a glossy finish on the stripes because you can see the reflection if the trees where as in other pics the flat matte black shows no reflection...

Haha maybe we need even more pics Bill : )

matte stripes look glossy when wet. same thing happens when i got them wet on my BMW, they practically disappeared in the black paint
