Question texas speed headers. boots hitting headers on drivers side!!

i just installed a set of texas speed long tube headers on my 2ss ls3. i have a quick question for anyone with these headers. on the drivers side the 2 middle spark plug boots are just barely touching the headers. is this normal????? i am assuming so as everything fit great. thanks

You really need some high-temp wires anyway (Granatelli, MTI, etc.) to go with your headers. That will fix your problem because they provide more clearance at the boot.

We have never experienced this with any of the major brand Headers, but is fairly simple to get around.

You could do a set of MSD wires, the spark plug boots are bendable so you could put a 30 or 45 degree bend and give yourself plenty of clearance for under 80 bucks

Ted.

Send a message via AIM to DietCoke
Get some aftermarket wires, like Jannetty suggested.

I helped do an install of these headers on a freinds car. He had the same issue as you. He went with some plug wires from MTI and had no further issue.

It gets tight on the really wide part of the plug wire nowhere near the internal wiring. I trimmed my wire just slightly for better clearance, but either way it won't give you any issues at all. The stock wires are crazy thick right at the top there.

That could be a picture of my TSP header install. Same issue. Was going to replace the wires with MSDs at some point.

Mine was just like this after installing the TSP headers. It's a great excuse to get a set of color matched MTI wires.

Was lookin at your site, any big difference between the MSD wires and Granatelli wires?

Our primary wire is MSD mostly because they are a great wire at a reasonable price.

If you want a Premium wire you have to choose Granatelli wires.
