ONSTAR sign up

I signed up for ONSTAR today for my new Camaro. Pretty cool, never had it before. Trial is $14.96 and my new Camaro now has its own phone number !. Anyone else use it ?............I'm impressed.

WARNING!! Do not use your cars onstar phone unless you really have to. Not sure what your dealer told you, but the onstar phone costs at least a $1 or more to use a minute. If you have it, use your cell phone bluetooth. A lot easier and cheaper. You do have a free 30 minutes with it, but that won't take too long to use up

You get 30 minutes free. During the welcome call, you can buy 100 minutes for 1/2 off, about $16, which will give you 130 TOTAL minutes good for ONE YEAR.

If in doubt, press your BLUE BUTTON, and ask how the hands free phone built in works, and how the minutes are billed and deducted.

1 year free, yet everyone seems to be spending $ when they sign up?

OnStar is FREE... Hands free phone is 30 minutes for 60 days, and XM for 90 days.

Buying "minutes" for the PHONE is offered at 50% off the regular price for minutes.

I love it! And you can't beat the price on 100 extra minutes! Lots of times I forget my cell phone, this way I'm covered no matter what! I've used the Mapquest navigator, works great. The first phone call my car got was a wrong number! The emergency button is also worth the price of admission.

I have on star also 1st year was free then about 225.00 a year after that, but if you have verizon wireless you can add the onstar phone in the camaro to your verizon wireless acct. and will only cost the add a line featrure from verizon and uses the min on your plan it's a lot cheaper than ostar price if your in you car alot, and free nights and weekends.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

I'm not a big fan of the Camaro's "Navigation" feature. I like to be able to see curves coming up on roads ahead of time. I installed a Garmin nav system in mine. I didn't want to hardwire it in case a nice looking double DIN unit came out and I could sell it. So I installed another 12v outlet underneath the dash and ran the everything to it. Here are some pics.

Great idea, tips for how you installed that under there? For a layman. I want my garmin there too, but the battery sucks on it, and cant drag the power cable all the way over there...
