I did some seat time in the one from Vaden before Thanksgiving while my car was being serviced and it felt really good.

Happy New Year to everyone. For anyone new to this thread, we are still looking for part numbers for entire ZL1 Recaro seat units for our cars.
If anyone in the southern US is going to order a new ZL1 but is NOT going to order their cars with the Recaro Seats, send me a PM, maybe we can make a deal.

Hey, whatever it takes! Chevy is not exactly expediting our chances to buy these seats over the counter.

I don't know if any of you guys are tracking the Z/28 release but one of the comments that Michael Wayland made regarding recaro seats specifically related to the z/28 is that they had an agreement with Recaro stating you could not purchase those seats unless they came in the car. It also mentions the ZL1 recaro seats in a similar context.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333759 If I'm reading into this correctly the only way you will get those seats is from salvage or from a new car purchase.

^in regards to post 290, what about appealing to Chevy for an alternative, such as a similar seat kit (aftermarket) to fit the Camaro, or the OEM seat kit but unmarked.
Its ashame to keep these seats from being available. I'm sure something could be worked out.

If you are referring to the following quote, it is all in the context of the comment or how you read it: “This is really a win-win," he said. “We won’t sell a seat without the car, so we have a real interest that the OEMs support us and we have an interest to support them.” I take this as if GM and Ford or the other companies didn't make performance cars, then there would not be a need for a performance seat. Not that they will only sell seats to those that already own the specific cars. It is in Recaro's best interest to have the manufacture putting the seats in as a stock item vs having people buy them as an aftermarket upgrade. More sales for Recaro, because how many people will actually upgrade their seats through the aftermarket vs having a included or optional performance seat from the factory. Yes, I know there are people that do and will upgrade even is these don't become available. |

I hope I'm wrong. I'm going to buy lighter seats for my car eventually and I would love to put in the high quality seats that Recaro is supplying for GM but as of yet they have not been available through the GM parts department and at least for now, this may explain why.
