Why does this not bother me one bit?

NEW YORK (AP) – Long Island police are looking for whoever spray painted 14 street cameras designed to catch motorists going through red lights.
Police say the vandalism occurred in Nassau County on Aug. 1 between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., nearly a year after the technology went into effect.
Cameras at five intersections were hit, in Carle Place, East Garden City, East Meadow and Westbury. Authorities are investigating and reviewing tapes from the cameras, which sit on poles as high as 16 feet.
The cameras are projected to generate more than $13 million for Nassau county this year.
The sprayed cameras were put back in service within 24 hours.

I wonder why folks aren't stealing them.

Im guessing crack heads don't watch myth buster and realize they are regular pro type $6000+ digital camera's in there that they could pawn for $1000 all day long........

I wouldn't say no to a camera of that quality, I think folks think its all one big box like camera with just wires n guts lose inside.

Head down to bestbuy and find the most expensive digital SLR they got and its gonna be several models better they only order, with a nice add on $500 zoom lenses

Happened right near me, and EVERYONE is happy about it.

BTW the red light camera by the major mall here cleared $1million on Christmas Eve alone. (Not a published figure, I know a lot of police officers through the Fire Dept).

The best part about those cameras is something I just heard on the news the other day...the photos taken by those cameras are read by technicians in ARIZONA...what's up with THAT?...
