I gotcha man, you just have to remember these cars were made to be rode aggressive. Iv have ran more times then I cant think down the track in my 5.0. I have never smelled any burning or had any issues in any car that iv tracked by slipping the clutch. Just takes some practice. you should be able to cut a 1.8-1.9 stock with seat time. do that and you will be mid-upper 12's easy. all my cars iv tracked have been dds never had any problems, but then again iv only seriously tracked Fords so maybe that's your problem trying to track with a Chevy lol j/k |

While the best I got out of my 12 GT stock was a 13:09 @109, 60' 2.05, I will say the car is much quicker than that. I had issues the night I ran being locked out of 3rd and 4th at anything over a 5800-6000 rpm shift (which essentially killed the runs), which is about a 1000 rpms low and the car still ran 13:09. My guess is if there hadn't been shifting issues the car would have run 12:70s that night.

No, I was saying race the 5.0 next to you at the track you may suprize yourself and win the race. A win is a win, dont bash the guy just because he ran better than the mustang, it can happen. Lightning and common sense have nothing to do with the better running car winning a race at a racing event . |

I am not a fan of the 5.0 the car was sold shortly after purchasing it due to the transmission issues. But if anyone in this forum actually thinks that the 5.0 is only a low to mid 13 second vehicle you are fooling yourself.

The auto 5.0 is better anyways...still runs 4.5 0-60 in stock form, tune runs 4.0 flat.

I don't see what the big deal with the GT500!!! It has 15lbs boost out of the box and with a pulley down and tune it will be 18+ lbs of boost. What current performance V8 wont throw down serious HP with that kind of boost. Pump the ZL1 boost from 9lbs to 15lbs and see what happens!!!

It all comes down to the driver. Yes 5.0s are a bit faster than some SS from factory, but with the wrong person at the wheel, the 5.0 is a cow. Same goes for the SS and most manual cars.

Need more than just a few pounds of boost to reach that.... with these mods should be close to 13-14 PSI = 588 691 on 14.5 lbs And I like the ZL1...better all round car than the GT500 for the price you pay. But the OP said he was gonna take out a new GT500 with his mods |
