Rumor on GM TT

Spoke to a few GM Dealers and "off the record" GM will be offering their Turbo for the V6 camaro and the upgrade will keep the B2B warrantee

They said most likely 2011

Trust me when I tell you that your GM dealers have no access to GM information regarding product development. They have no idea what is going on in Detroit. While GM appears to be working on a TTV6, there is no confirmable indication of when it will be available. Even this evidence does not suggest a kit. It is more likely to be a production engine, not a GMPP kit for aftermarket install.

So it's not possible for dealers to make inquiries to GM?

Anyone can make inquiries to GM, and we all do. GM just won't tell us anything. This is true of customers, dealers, and everyone else.

Keep in mind that publicizing technology too early gives competitors an opportunity to capitalize on GM's improvements and make their own.

The Blur is right. I work for GM. Dealers can inquire, but that does not mean they will get an answer to any info on product development.

This gives me a chance to prove my point.

Dee, what can you tell us about GM future powertrain plans?

The only info being released is the investments into a new small block V8 with "unprecedented fuel economy through direct injection and variable valve timing." (this is old news to some of us, but just now being made public.)

What about the "LF3"? Is that a true upcoming engine?

So if they are using the new platform for the Camaro in a just couple years, you know darn well they aren't going to design it into the existing platform. That would be just plain stupid economically. I highly doubt we will see anything substantially new other than a SC Z-28 until then. Once the new platform hits, the V6 will probably be "2,994 cc 3.0 liters V 6 engine with 89.0 mm bore, 80.3 mm stroke, 11.7 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder LF1" along with new DI V8.
