Motortrend reporting its an updated LS7 powering the new Z. I never heard any hint of supercharger whine in the videos either. Can't imagine what this thing will do with lighter weight, CCB's and 550ish hp of 7.0 liter fire.

And this is what Motortrend was reporting back in October of 2010...

http://www.motortrend.com/news/spied...the-ring-9139/

They're all guessing...I don't see a Z/28 being released for a couple of more years...and I am guessing too!

I hope not!
I just got this one past break in and added ARH headers, cat delete, a dyno tune, Taylor red racing wires and NGK plugs, an MGW shorts throw shifter and SCP racing pedals!
I may put a complete hold on the mods until I know more.
This new Z looks pretty awesome, and if it has a new 7.0L it may be hard to resist!

I wouldn't sweat it.. Mod your car, drive your car... If a new Z is released in mid 2017 or early 2018, that's perfect timing. Wait till 2019 when the hype dies down and get a great deal like I'm sure you did on your current one.. Win win..

It appears to be a ZL1 with a ZL2 Aero and handling package similar to the Z06 with the Z07 Aero and handling package, too early, the Z28 will come out 2018 or 2019 with a higher revving N/A LT1 HO for a power plant is my guess.

Mark Stielow briefly talks about an "ABS Brake Pad Cinch Feature" during hard cornering -in this video around 5:30
I wonder if this was programmed too aggressively on this testmule -causing this rear brake lockup.

I think the rear brake lock up was caused by driver panic. He realized he came in too hot, smashed the brake pedal, the weight transferred, causing the rears to lock first, ( driver still hard on brakes, ohhh sh&%!! ) once the weight equalized all 4 wheels locked and BAMMM!! I would say that the car was not running abs obviously, the wheels would not stayed locked that long if abs was in affect..

That was going to be the Z/28 but Team Camaro changed their mind right before reveal. A few of the ZL1 molded parts had Z/28 embossed in them.

Yeah, I recall that now, but still goes to show that nobody really knows. And I still say no way a new Z/28 will hit the streets anytime soon.

So what's your opinion on the car being tested?

That boys and girls is all motor.
I personally don't care if its a ZL1, COPO, Z28, SS, or RS SS......I am sure I am missing one of em.
I hate park bench wings on street cars but this is not a street car and that being said..... It is totally awesome and necessary. Have you seen the Dodge Viper ACR with the aero package?
I have to say I am very surprised that GM would look to build another track car as the Z was not exactly a success. For everyone here it was a success... we got a track car but as far as paying the bills over at GM ummmmm no.

It may be a Z/28 test mule. I just don't believe we'll see it hitting the streets anytime soon. I've also read that the wing is removable for street purposes. It certainly sounds like an NA motor. Maybe it's an amped up 1LE. Only God (and a limited # of GM employees) know for sure.

What do you think?

Based on the time frame for the ZL1 and 1LE, this is probably a 2018 model year and will be revealed in January, so it won't be on the streets for around a year.
