Exhaust upgrade information needed!
Hey guys, thanks for taking some time out of your day to read my post.. I bought my 2011 Camaro LS which has a 3.6L V6 DI a couple weeks ago and I was wondering which exhaust system to get to upgrade the overall sound and appearance. I have been doing research and have seen many different brands and prices but since I dont know much about cars I really am not sure which one to purchase. The one I was looking into the most was the JBA Cat-Back Performance Exhaust but I am still not sure, hence me asking for your opinion and feedback.. I figured if I dont have the V8, I may as well have the V6 that sounds like one! Thanks a-lot!

To be honest i do believe the general consensus is that the MRT v2 is the best sounding exhaust for the v6...emphasis on General Consensus

SLP Loudmouth 1 is the loudest, meanest one I have heard. All the other ones sound very similar to stock exhaust.

SLP Loudmouth is loud and mean and sounds like a muffler delete and costs way more. It's really terrible.
the MRT v2 is the consensus best for our LS's, but you won't sound like a V8 at all. I've been meaning to check out Borla as well, but there's not enough info on it or any good HD vids I've seen. Also, check the LFX tech subforum, we have a lot of discussion about this over there. Hope you enjoy the car! I know I do. |

I am on the MRT V2.0 bandwagon. I absolutely love the sound of mine.
Okay, with that said, what you do or want to do is all about how much money you want to spend. There are a lot of axle-back mufflers to choose from which would be a cheaper route versus a cat back system. You also said you have the 2011 which is the LLT engine so you can also change the manifold out and put on headers. There is a sticky on exhaust for the V6 on this site somewhere that has sound clips. Axle-backs you have to cut the old muffler off and clamp on the new ones. After 9 months I finally welded mine on because one wouldn't stay put. Cat-back (catalytic converters back) are or should be all bolt in and cost considerably more then axle-back. And of course if it were me and I was doing cat-back and I had money in the budget I would opt for headers at the same time and do a complete system swap. I would only do that because of HP gains. Good luck with endeavor. Dean. Here are a couple clips of the MRT V2.0 exhaust Last edited by skibik; 03-19-2013 at 06:03 PM. Reason: add clips |

I really like my Dynomax VT system. Sounds mean when it needs to, 'quiet' the rest of the time.
However, if I wanted to throw $1250 at the car. Corsa all the way!

If you have the budget go with the Corsa. Here is my car with Solo HFC and Corsa cat-back.

I went with Solo Performance with J-Pipes and the sound is just great. Thing is that at 1,800 to 2,000RPM's on the road I don't have any drone and it's quite silent untill I push the pedal. For me, less that 1,000$ for such a great system is my best overall mod. And the more you drive better is the sound. After 1 season (2011) the sound was getting better and better and now it's at it's best. It's your choice, man.
