NEW PRODUCT: Proven Wicked SwitchBLADE Swaybar
The SwitchBLADE Anti-Roll Bar (ARB) is the ultimate and most technologically advanced tuning bar on the market. We have done extensive computer and track testing to provide an ARB that is unmatched by anyone. The unique blade design allows for 5 rate adjustments per side without changing the angle of the endlink and without having to break out the tools thanks to the quick release pins that retain the blade in the desired location. No modifications necessary and bolts in the factory location.
The blade design is seen used in Formula 1 and many American Lemans race cars. The way it works is that the blade is the most stiff in the vertical position and gradually gets softer as it flattens out. The design is basically three springs in series working together. In total there are 15 different rate configurations by combining the the different adjustments per side. This gives the largest range of adjustment for street to track only applications. This is why Formula Drift driver Conrad Grunewald chose our bar for his Track Camaro. Another exclusive design is our Spherate pillow block mounts. They were designed to allow the sway bar to work to its full potential with the precision of a solid mount. We found with our stress analysis that the more rigid you make the mount the less you are using the center of the bar and adding stress to the outside only due to binding under load. The spherical balls not only locate the bar side to side (as opposed to welded rings or extra collars), but also allow the bar to pivot inside the UHMW self lubricating housing when its under twist. These mounts come with the bar but are also available separately and can be custom made for your sway bar diameter. The bar itself was taken to the next step utilizing heat treated Hy-tuf material which is a harder and tougher material than the typical chromoly used by others and more resistant to fatigue or loss of rate over time. Its gun drilled and stepped down from the root radius of the splined ends. The splined bar allows for easy swaps for different bar diameters for even further rate adjustment if the blade adjustments aren't enough. All aluminum parts are machined from billet 7075-T6 and hard anodized. The Blades ride on a set of roller and ball bearings for precise adjustments and operation. The pins are Jergens brand military spec quick release pins that allow a quick and easy push of a button release. No corners were cut here only the best components available! This setup is ideal for both street and track due to the almost limitless amount of adjustment. We love this for autocross since sessions don't typically allow a lot of time between runs. Same thing as the endlinks, is want proof before I chose these over ... A few other options lol
My questions and concerns: the strength of the pin holding the rotational blade, is it the only thing keeping the blade from rotating? How much torque/force acts on that blade, and how well does it all hold up, versus a non adjustable bar

B-rex. We have been running this setup on our car for over a year doing track duty and so has Conrad Grunewald on his F1 Drift and track car. This is the same setup used by hundreds of professional race cars that either use a pin like us, an in car adjustable cable or just tighten the bolt on the end. The majority of the force is applied to the bearings and therefore directly to the bar since it is mounted in double shear. The pin mainly locks the position.
The blades are made from heat treated Hytuff steel which is stronger, harder and tougher over the typical chromoly steel so it will not fatigue over time. Therefore it is more resilient than the typical tubular bar. The force is dependent on the wheel travel, position of the blade, and the amount of twist allowed in the bar. We have done extensive stress analysis to ensure that the blade is sufficient in all positions. We have spared no expense in materials to guarantee a system that is up to the task and will hold up over time. Hope this answers some of your questions. |

It does.answer thank you . I'm in no way a suspension specialist or anything, but that explanation was easy to understand.

We have now split the SwitchBLADE sway bar kit up with options to run our exclusive Spherate Pillow Block Mounts or a more economical solution with Polyurethane mounts and split shaft collars. The Spherate mounts offer the precision of a solid mount without the limitation of allowing the bar to articulate when loaded. The balls also function as shaft collars to prevent the bar from shifting side to side. For those that are not heavily into tracking their car or would like to build up to the ultimate setup we are now offering the greasible Polyurethane kit.

That's some nice innovative stuff, great job guys. I've seen those in the offroad industry when guys want the sway bar stiff on the street but soft offroad. The pillow blocks are a nice addition, you can tell it was well thought out

Is for front and rear? What is the range of added stiffness compared to the stock 2010 sway bars? Do you have any recommended settings?

Currently we only have this for the rear, but are looking at the front as well. With the splined bar that comes with it you can tune anywhere from 1.5 to 5 times stiffer that a 2010 SS bar. You can also change the splined bar our to go stiffer if wanted. Since there are so many different setups and configurations (springs, coilovers, front sway bar, weights, tires, type of racing etc.) it would be impossible to give a general recommended setting, but I would recommend starting with the softest setting and increasing from there to get a balanced setup. We currently run ours the majority of the time at full stiffness coupled with an Eibach front sway bar and KW V3 Coilovers and some wide and sticky Toyo R888s. We also have different weight (carbon panels) and stiffness (bolt in cage) than most typical Camaros. Full stiff on the rear will likely give too much oversteer on most applications. I hope this answers some of your questions. |
