Anyone know how to remove this chrome?

The chrome piece on the steering wheel that comes out of the airbag and goes down to the bottom in the middle of the wheel

I want to take it off so i can paint it and put it back on

You will need to take the air bag out first, then it pulls out with your hands or a plastic pry bar, and the controls come out with it, then 2 torx per control and your set.

LOL, no it will not explode, and you dont need to remove the wires only the bag off the wheel, so you have room to get the trim off.
