Serious Question: mercedes benz or Camaro?
Just wanted to get a few opinions from the members on this board because you all have been really helpful. I've been holding out for a camaro for a little while and am seriously thinking about placing a order early next year. I've got a great bit of money saved up and four thousand in a cd that expires in four months.
I've been going around looking at different cars, dealers have more camaros on lots here but the prices are still too high especially for a used one. Now to the point a opportunity popped up to buy a 2007 E class 350 benz with 20k miles on it for 23k, clean title history according to car fax. Both are nice cars especially for a 21 year old. Last I've got steady income and 8gs in emergency savings. Any thoughts and advice are appreciated. |

Thats a choice only you can make. It depends on what you like the most.
I will say that when things start failing (and they will eventually on both cars) the maintenance & upkeep on the benz will be substantially higher than the camaro. |

Both are nice cars. Being that your a young guy I would definatly go with the Camaro. An E Class is an awesome car for an established 50 year old person. Your only young once. Go with a 400+ hp Camaro.
Plus the reason you are probably getting a good deal on an E Class is because the new body is out and the previous body style isn't in demand any more. Good Luck with your choice. |

If you were 10 years older I'd say it's up to you.
But in this case you better get the Camaro. I was 38 before I could get my 'Hot Rod' I allways wanted. If you can do it now, do it. Beat the hell out of it and you'll allways remember this car. If you get the Benz, you won't have the same experience. It'll allways be just another car when you get older. you'll remember the Camaro much more. Just My Opinion. To clarify better; The Mercedes you can buy any time. The Camaro is the muscle car that 'sticks' in the memory longer. |

"Both are nice cars. Being that your a young guy I would definatly go with the Camaro. An E Class is an awesome car for an established 50 year old person. Your only young once. Go with a 400+ hp Camaro." What he said
I have an E series MB and a 2010 Camaro. I would go with the Camaro. The Mercedes is expensive to maintain and repair. I bought my E320 used with 230,000 miles for $2500.00(I own a shop and the owner just didn't want to spend any more money on it) . It is in excellent shape with all of the maintenance records and repair receipts in it. The total of the receipts was well over $20,000. It has had many catalytic converters replaced, window regulators and motors, electrical gremlins and other minor things that were expensive to repair. I have worked on Mercedes for 22 years and even though they are good cars, the quality has declined from the mid '90s to the present IMO. I tell my customers that are toying with the idea of getting into a Mercedes to expect to spend three times as much maintaining and repairing as they would an American or Japanese car. I live in Jackson TN. and I believe that Serra Chevrolet is selling at MSRP. I bought my car in Columbia TN. (Middle TN). at MSRP back in July when every other dealer was adding $5000.00 plus to the MSRP. I had a great experience there and would highly recommend them. If you call there ask for Cecil Staggs. The number is 1-888-898-6234. |

If our 1980-whatever Mercedes already cost a crapload to maintain, I can't even imagine what a modern Mercedes would cost.
Camaro all the way.

A Camaro or a Benz? There is a huge gap between the two. Don't think I have ever heard of anyone choosing between those two cars. In my experience, two totally different
kinds of drivers. I guess find out who you are. Your car is an extension of your personality. I would never feel right driving a Benz. |

And anyway, I never pay attention to the 'Luxury' asspect of a car. Even the 120k class cars I've driven. (not owned) which is only two. One was a Mercedes. I don't get it. I'd drive my Camaro over it any day. |
