Triple Adjustable Coilovers and the drive to win
At Pfadt Race Engineering our development staff is always looking for new ways to help make your Camaro faster and more fun no matter what your goals are. With that in mind the latest product we've developed to help racers meet their goals are our Camaro Triple Adjustable Coilovers! These Camaro Triple Adjustable Coilovers are a Thoroughbred race coilover solution and the direct result of our desire to put more Camaro's on the race podium. With the introduction of the 5th Generation Camaro we knew it was only going to be a matter of time before teams of incredibly talented individuals began seriously racing these cars. As recently as last year we saw Jordon Musser and his Momentum Race Group Camaro crowned with his first SCCA World Challenge win, and this year we now have Andy Lee and the Bondurant Camaro to pin our hopes too. This weekend Andy and the Bondurant team won their first World Challenge GTS race at Miller Motorsports Park using our Pfadt Race Engineering Camaro Double Adjustable Coilovers! The new Camaro Triples feature some key improvements over our previous single available coilovers.
There are lots of great features with the new Camaro Double Adjustables... but the real questions is, Do They Work? The answer from Andy Lee and the Bondurant Racing team is a resounding YES. Being one of the only suspension manufacturers homologated into both FIA and SCCA for the 5th Gen Camaro this is a setup that's looked to when track Camaro's need to take their handling to the next level and can't settle for just super car performance. With some more first place finishes like Andy and the Bondurant team had this weekend a GTS series championship isn't out of the question! These fancy race parts are great for the folks who need to run them... but what does mean to you, the Camaro Enthusiast? Getting involved in projects like these really allow us to evaluate our processes and designs for our street coilover packages as well. Our efforts on the racing side absolutely have a trickle down effect into lighter, stronger and faster products for the street. A great example are the aluminum front housings which not only provide all the required strength for street use, but will make our street coilovers significantly lighter and offer better clearance for aggressive wheel and tire packages. By letting our engineers stretch their legs on the racing side we can offer you superior street packages. Here are a few photos from the fantastic weekend at Miller Motorsports Park. Hopefully this will inspire some more die hard Camaro fans to go out there and hit their local track to see what their Camaro can really do! Victory Fist Pump! |

To be perfectly honest this Triple shock package isn't really in the same category as the KW Club Sports. Although they are both triple adjustable the club sports are geared more towards street and track use, while the Pfadt Triples are really intended for professional level race teams. We don't expect to sell too many to street customers, but the trickle down effect of technologies developed for these race duty parts does strongly influence our street car lineup. |

Here is another example of how developments from the race programs directly influences our street products:
This is the rear lower mount for the new Camaro Single Adjustable Coilovers. It is an identical design to the Double Adjustable ones used to win the World Challenge race this past weekend, with the exception of the bushing insert. As you can see, this single adjustable version has a rubber encapsulated bushing to curtail any road NVH transfer through the suspension. The double adjustable version uses a solid spherical for zero deflection and friction. |

What's better than a single World Challenge win during a race weekend?
2 wins during a race Weekend! Andy Lee and his Best IT/Bondurant Sponsored Camaro took not only 1 win this weekend at the temporary street course of Belle Isle, Michigan... but they actually won both races on Saturday and Sunday! If you're going to win races the best time to do it is in front of the home crowd, and under the shadow of GM head quarters the GM drivers proved that sometimes a home field advantage is all it takes to put you over the top. Factory GM Driver Johnny O'Connell also had an amazing weekend with huge wins on both Saturday and Sunday in the GT Class. With the huge wins this weekend Andy and the team have actually taken a slim lead over series veteran Peter Cunningham. It should be a dog fight between the upstart Best IT/Bondurant team and Cunninghams Real Time Racing Acuras. With plenty of racing left in the 2012 season it's sure to make for some exciting action down the stretch. Be sure to follow Andy and the entire Bondurant/Best IT team as they try to finish strong over the next 6 rounds in the remainder of the season. Needless to say we are ecstatic about the weekends results and wish nothing but the best to Andy over the remaining events! |

We paddocked next to the Best IT team and I went over and looked at their set up (I have the StopTech's on my Camaro but went with KWVariant3's as Pfadt isn't producing any street coilovers for our Camaro's right now). Here are some pics. They mount the reserve cannister on the strut tower brace in the front.
Note the lowered and moved-rearward engine......for better handling (at least in theory). Also note the restrictor in the intake. World Challenge has both the Camaros and Mustangs running restrictors right now.

I noticed that your intake has a taper design. Is this because of some regulation or is there some kind of benefit to this? Possibly small inlet results in higher velocities?

That taper is the restrictor that these cars are saddled with. A lot of race series will typically restrict most or all of the field to bring engine outputs closer to even with each other. That taper is definitely not there for increased performance, but rather mandated by the World Challenge sanctioning body to even the playing field and make for more interesting racing. |

Congrats to you guys at Pfadt! I was trying to beat your boys in the Capaldi racing #26 Mustang driven by Aaron Povoledo. I was engineering that car and we missed the pole by 0.050 seconds because I called him off on his fasted lap! (stupid engineer..)
However, we were fastest in the rain by 5 seconds!! Keep up the good work Aaron and crew. That Camaro sure can run. Win on Sunday sell on Monday Quote:
