tranny help???

i have a '93 z28 a4, when i shift into lower gears the tranny shifts into the gear but the rpms drop to 1,000 and dont hold the car back, i can rev the motor to about 2000-2500 rpm before my tranny kicks in, any thoughts on whats wrong??

First thing I would do is check the fluids. Did it pull any code?
How many miles?

Time for another rebuild.

Change the fluid/filter and see if that helps, but it doesn't sound good.

thats your answer right there.

it has a stall converter which doesnt engage till a higher rpm.
