Well it's official...my 5th Gen is gone

Yep, after almost 5 years of ownership I had to let her go yesterday. Work issues came up and I went from working 100% at home to commuting almost 60 miles a day to work. I decided it just didn't make sense to have two toys and my '69 isn't going anywhere. As much as I hated to see her go it's just the smart thing to do. Instead of sitting in my garage rarely being driven any more I was able to pay off most of my wife's car and will be car payment free in a couple months.

I know I will look back and regret selling the car. I can't tell you how many times people come up to me when I have my '69 at a car show and tell my how they had or their dad used to have a 1st Gen. That will eventually be me with my 5th Gen. Unfortunately you just can't keep them all.

I do plan on getting another one some day. It will just be a few years down the road. My goal is to get my house paid for within the next 5 years and then I can look at what my options are at that point. Maybe the 7th Gen will be on it's way out by then or I might have to break down and try a Corvette Stingray.

Anyway, I loved coming here and learning and contributing info about the 5th Gen. I will still check back in every now and then but not nearly as often as I used to.

Party on my friends and enjoy them while you have them.

Well you still have one toy and having the roof over your head paid for is a very nice feeling. Good luck to you and your family.

I'm surprised you let your car go. It was a good looking Camaro that was setup nicely and I could tell by your posts and garage that you are a true Camaro aficionado. Good luck going forward.

Sorry to hear! But you'll always be able to have another one! But what don't understand is that you said that you can't have two toys, so what was your 5th Gen since you worked from home?

It was extremely hard to let it go but I had to step back and look at my financial situation as a whole. It just didn't make sense to have the car sitting in the garage and rarely being driven. My '69 Camaro is my weekend car so the 5th Gen was getting to where it just didn't get driven at all. If I didn't have my '69 the situation would be completely different.

Thanks! I enjoyed being here and learning and working on the 5th Gen.

One thing this car helped with was to give me an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with my dad. He has a 1500 sq ft shop in the back of his house which is where a majority of the mods were done by the two of us. He would always complain as to not understanding why I was always changing something on a new car but then he was always the one there lending a hand and coming with me to the race tracks and car shows. Truly memorable moments that will last with the both of us forever.

My 5th Gen was technically my daily driver but since I worked from home and only went places fairly local I only put 4k miles a year on the car but drove it whenever I could.

Now that I'm commuting I wasn't willing to drive it daily to and from work. At that point it became only a toy and I had to make myself find a time to drive the car every couple weeks.

In a way that's true but it would have had to be a Auto V6 because of all the stand still traffic I have to sit through. That would be an absolute no go for me. Funny thing is that when I was initially looking at 5th Gens I was thinking about getting a V6 in a manual. It was my wife that said no way....we will never be have without the V8. No argument there.

Five years into the loan....

Only 60 miles commute to work....

Could have de-moded a few things and used the 1-4 AFM shifts and been just fine...

Just my two cents....
