Winter wheels/tires (again)

Sorry for a repeat threat but there is tons of differing opinions over a long period of time i am looking for knowledge on a specific question.

Car=2011 2ss/rs (20 inch) manual.

I am looking for a winter tire/wheel combo. I looked on tire rack and they only had 20 inch tires when i entered my car in the settings. All the wheels they had were ugly, not to mention expensive. If I put an LT in there, there are options for 18inch wheels and bigger tires to match the stock diameter with 20's.

I dont want just tires. I would like some wheels/tires that look somewhat similar to the factory wheels so i can just swap them out easily alone. I would keep the 4 winter wheels/tires in my garage all summer, then do a quick swap one day for my 4 summer wheels/tires (stock) come winter.

I dont want to break the bank if thats posisble. I have no problem doing 17's or 18's with bigger tires to match the stock size.

Please tell me where to go, how much, what brand and exact sizes and everything so i can just go out and order them or go buy them somewhere.

thanks.

I got a set of 19's from a stock car that was getting a wheel upgrade at my dealer. That way I have a stock looking set of wheels and the stock TPMS installed also. The Pirelli all seasons are pretty darn good in the snow too. Also I got them for $600 which is basically a steal. Only 1 minor issue. You have to use a set of really thin wheel spacers on the front to clear the huge brembos. I've ran that for 1 and a half seasons now w/o issue.

that didn't occur to me...i guess anything much smaller than 20's would have problems fitting with the brakes.

yeah, watch the wheel depth on the front, it was only 1/4 or so diff from the 20's. The rear were ok, the brakes are smaller. I got a super thin set of spacers from Jegs for like $20. Problem solved. Check your dealer and ebay, mine told me they sometimes get rid of stuff there.

Get rid of the roller skates and smaller wheels will fit. Check with Tire Rack.

It's a shame Chevy decided to use wheel and tire sizes best suited to an SUV. That and the staggered sizes hurt the handling.

I picked up a wheel and tire combo from the Tire Rack... Pirelli Scorpions in a 245/50/19 size mounted on Rial Nogaro wheels. They are having a closeout on both the wheels and the tires, so the Rials are only about $140 per wheel and the Scorpions are $175 per tire. And, of course, with the Tire Rack, you get everything you need to just bolt them up. We've just had out first bit of snow and that wheel/tire combo worked great.

Maddog - If I can assist please give me a call. I will be glad to explain all your options. 17s or 18s are not going to work if you have the roller skate brake dampers located at the top of your pads. Thdy can be removed by changing to an aftermarket pad. You may also want to read through the winter tire thread sticky at the top of the forum.
