Question on CTS-V swap

For those that have done the swap I have a question about the front dust shields. I purchased the dust shields for the front that cover the ball joints. The dust shield for the stock 4 piston calipers covers the entire back of the rotor except for where the caliper is. Is this removed and just the lower portion covered with the upgrade using the new dust shield?
