Still no bites for me. Not even low ball offers. Just chirping crickets. I lowered my 'asking' price to $23k. Remember it's under 22k miles. Not a single bite. CL, ebay, auto trader, and a sign in the windshield. People walk by telling me 'wow that should sell quick', as it sits for months. The nearest carmax is 40 miles away and the car's not registered so that's not an option.

It would be one thing if my problem was that everyone was low-balling me. But I find it very strange that I'm getting ZERO offers and ZERO interest.

Here's the pics I took. They came out really good, I can't imagine taking any better pics than this: http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/3784099074.html

Had this same problem myself back in early 2011 when I tried to move my car. I got bites but there were low 20k offers and the BB value was at least 27,500. My guess is people who can afford these cars would rather just pay a few thousand more and get a brand new car. No doubt these will be easier to sell in a few more years when the price disparity between new and used is much larger, but that doesn't help our case.

Didn't find anyone in here. I'm selling mine to a dealer.

It's always the price. Take it from a guy trying to sell a 69 Z11 right now!

Good luck. The Craigslist ad looks good.

May come down to fact that it's easier for people to get financing through dealership than private party. At least that's what I've been told.

They are a dealer. They have a little better pull that Joe Blow off the street. You will never sell for as much as a dealer would. The idea of selling it your self is getting $1000 more than just trading it in.

So another month has passed. My price is down to $21,750. Not only has my car not sold yet, but I still haven't had a SINGLE bite on it. I'm baffled. I almost had a dealership I used to work at, agree to sell it on consignment for $21,000 even. But my old boss agreed to it before his boss ok'd it. So that fell through.

The dealership I bought the new one from, originally offered me $19,000 to buy it outright. Told me he may be able to offer more in the summer. He just emailed me and offered me $17,000.

I don't know what else to do. The car is a great car, in great condition. It's loaded, fast, powerful, fuel-efficient. It's listed everywhere, ebay (not anymore), craigslist, autotrader, cars.com and a few other random no-name listing sites. And I have a sign in the window, although I don't live on a high traffic road. All this and the closet thing I've had to a bite, is one random person that emailed me and asked me my asking price. They must have got my email from the window sign, I didn't have room for a price.

I'm not convinced about this dealership stuff either. I mean sure some people might prefer buying from a dealership. But I feel like just as many people prefer buying used cars from the individual, because they know they'll save about 33% or so. I bought a used blazer recently for $4000, dealerships with similar trucks were asking as much as $9000.

It would be one thing if people were busting my balls on my price. But it's like the car isn't even listed. I'm getting NOTHING (except a flood of scammers, of course)

Any insight would be appreciated, I'm completely baffled here.

I traded in my 2010 1lt RS in April for a 2012 2SS. The dealer offered me $17,000 at first. But I laughed at that and they eventually offered me 19,000. That's what I took. Dealer said they wouldn't go any higher.
My car had 26,000 miles, all the windows tinted, and an SLP exhaust. It was immaculate.
Here it is.

I've been buying and selling cars for my own personal use for 20+ years; I've found it all comes down to financing. Unless you have a small town bank where your on a first name basis with your loan officer most people can still only get loan value and few people have the usual 20% in there pockets to put down if you happen to be asking full book value and almost no banks will give financing for salvage or marked titles of any kind.

As for us "private party" sellers few big banks even offer financing for interested buyers, good deal or not!

If it helps I've found that Wells Fargo Auto Finance still does auto loans for private party so long as you've got a decent credit score and are willing to suck up the high interest. I know this personally since I bought my 08 H2 with high miles from a private party with an 8.9% interest rate and went to my credit union a month later and refinanced for 2.59%. Why the loan shuffle? My credit union doesn't do private party loans; refinancing no problem!

The months tick by and still this car sits in my driveway. I posted a new auction. I did things differently this time around. It's a 10 day auction. And there's no reserve. And the opening bid is $19,999. That's still higher than the highest bid I ever got on previous auctions. But it's insane to take less than that for this car. Yet, I need it gone like now. I only need one bid and the car is sold. But hopefully I get a few bids

You better be hoping that the high bidder pays up rather than hoping for multiple bids. eBay has a lot of kids that just like to bid for fun and never pay. Hope you get it sold this time. It's no fun having something for sale for that long with no buyers in sight.

Well yes. I don't just hope someone bids, I hope someone bids, and pays I thought that was assumed
