Rear windshield louver

Has anyone thought about getting these, or know what aftermarket companies might make them. My uncles 86 IROC-Z had it and I think it'll look sick on the new maro.

I will have to see it, maybe even a chop of it. When I see the occasional new Mustang with it I grimace, so I can't imagine having a better reaction with the Camaro.

I just find those things very hit or miss...mostly miss.

You mean rear window louvers?

By any chance, is your hair starting to grow a little longer in the back and shorter up front?

Window louvers looked great on the second and third generation cars, yet there is a reason you don't oft see them on first gens:

(1). Because they weren't even popular in the late 60's except on racecars

(2). They don't look good on a first gen

I've thought about it a few times, but honestly I couldn't imagine how they'd look on the new Camaro. First gen Camaros never wore window louvers so I don't have a reference as to how they'd look on our 5th gens.

What actual purpose did they serve anyway? I never particularly cared for them.

Rear window louvers.
Created in the Seventies and died in the early Nineties. Please leave them there

Today people get a good quality dark window tint, looks 100x better

Window louvers were the 'sun protectors' of yesteryear. They did a good job at protecting the back from the sun while adding a stylish flair to the car (or what they considered stylish). Window louvers, combined with a reflecting front windshield cover made for an extremely powerful interior protection system when the car was off. But yes, the advances in window tint more or less negated the need for window louvers and thus they lost their charm.

Some new cars look awesome with window louvers. The Mustangs can adapt several appearances that are complimented very well by window louvers such as the Parnelli Jones BOSS throwback.

Has anyone looked into a furry dash cover for their new Camaro? I think this look is hot and protects the dash nicely. Here's a nice example...

but I would prefer something in a nice orange shag.
