ZL1 Vengeance Kaotik cam with stock pulleys power gain???

I'm really wanting to upgrade my cam before pulleys. Crazy I know. I really can't find much in the way of power gains with a bigger cam such as the Kaotik and keeping stock pulleys. Anybody have an idea? I do plan to upgrade pulleys down the road, but given my budget, I really want a cam more than pulleys. I currently have CAI and LTs. Thanks for the help.

The right cam with your current mods should net 600 wheel. You will need injectors though.

Ok. I forgot to mention along with all the supporting mods for the cam, I was considering 850 injectors and a catch can, and 160 thermostat.

That's a poor cam choice for a PD blower car. Way too much overlap. Especially if you're not turning up the boost A LOT.

I'm not familiar with the cam specs, but Bryan is surely giving you good advice on the overlap.

I see. What about going safe with their VRPD-2 cam 231/239 .617/.624 118+4 or their VRSC-2 Camshaft- 231/239 .617/.624 115+4? I believe these are geared more for PD/forced induction. What kind of gains with these?

You would be much happier doing the pulleys first...Just an upper pulley with your current mods would put you at 600 RWHP easily and a lot less expensive...

He wants a cam more then pulleys. More expensive for the same hp, yes.
There are, however some other benefits such as losing some boost which in turn will produce less IAT heat. For road course a proper cam for hp is better than speeding up the supercharger and adding heat to a already marginal cooling situation.

He was asking for suggestions and he didn't state what the purpose of the build was for, so pulleys would be the best option...He also has a limited budget, which again would favor the pulleys...Or he can get a 0% credit card and get it all...

That VRPD-2 would be a good choice. With -1 deg overlap, intake closes at 49.5 deg ABDC and exhaust opens at 61.5 deg BBDC. That would be a good blower cam and would drive very nicely even though it a a rather big cam.

It is Unlikely you will pick up much power as the blower is the dictator of air flow, if you don't spin it faster you won't gain any significant power.

in order to install a cam you have to remove the balancer so you may as well install the ATI superdamper and 22.5% pulley to go along with a cam, injectors, and fuel pump voltage booster.

This for sure.

Great choice in injectors but go with a LPE 174 stat instead

We offer a great line of Cams specifically designed for the LSA engine, 650-700 RWHP on pump gas is common with this car.

Feel free to give us a call for a consultation.

Ted.

The cam is one of my favorite mods to date. The look on peoples faces and most of the comments are " a new car isn't supposed to sound that cool" lol
