3.25 to 3.45 Gears

Alright so my buddy just swapped out his 3.45 rear end in his LS3 and put the 1LE rear end in with 3.91. My question is since he has the entire rear end with 3.45's in it would it be worth it to swap my 3.25 (L99) for a 3.45 rear end. Would I see any noticeable difference in track times or would it not be worth doing? And my track times I mean 1/4. Btw my car is a auto L99

Yes, do it. Just need to flash in the ratio change for the speedo.

You will love it.

(then PM us and we will buy your 3.25 unit to put 3.91's in).

I went from 3.45's to 3.70's in my LS3 SS and it was perfect, just that small ratio change made a world of difference. A change from 3.27's to 3.45's in an auto L99 would be a similar jump. You will need a tune for the speedo and odometer as stated in an above post.

Alright I was just worried that the 3.25 to 3.45 would not make that big of a difference but it sounds like it will make a big difference. I am aware that I will need to have my tuner take care of the speedo and odometer.

With the A6 trans the jump is pretty ideal. Expect as much as .5-1 tenth gain in the 1/4 mile.

The LS3 cars should have came with 3.70's from the factory as well as the L99 cars should have come with 3.45's from the factory, IMHO. Guess the EPA fuel numbers might have caused a gas guzzler tax with the increased gear. The seemingly small ratio change makes 6th ( manual ) so much more usable, there is a definite increase in acceleration in all gears ( very noticeable on the road course ), with stock diameter tires 80mph is 2,000 rpm so the car still gets great fuel economy on the road and isn't loud due to engine rpm. With my mild engine mods and 3.70 gears I still get 24.6 mpg on the highway. I'm sure the 3.91's are great also although they might shorten up 1st a bit too much for my taste. Even though the 3.91's weren't out when I installed the 3.70's, if I had it to do all over again I'd still take the 3.70's.
