Clicking in the Dash

Does anyone have a clicking in their dash when they remove the key from the ignition? I have this happen every so often... Not always, but enough to make me wonder. As soon as I turn the key, everything stops.

It's a very quiet clicking... Any ideas?

What you hear is probably the heat shields surrounding the exhaust under the car shrinking as they cool down. A lot of times is sounds like clicking, but it's really just the brackets and or clips holding it in place shifting...

My sound is coming from behind the gauge cluster, and of course the dealer wasn't able to recreate it.

isnt that from the suspension releasing slowly after you shut the car down?

Is the time between each click the same?

I hear the exact same sound in my 1LT, like a tiny ball dropped or intake/exhaust valve closing.. you are not alone.

The clicking is very rapid- and is coming from behind the gauge cluster...

Is your door open when you do this? Also are cycling the key out rapidly? It might be RAP system venting. My current car doesn't have one, so i don't quite remember the sound it makes. It should be some kind clicking as a few relays go off near the same time.

I hear the clicking about 2 seconds after I get out of the car. Sounds like a relay shutting off or something. Definetly not the heat shield pinging, this is a mechanical sound.
