Loud noise when downshifting
Today was the second time it happened. If I downshift from 5th to 2nd gear at ~50 mph it will sometimes make a LOUD noise. It sounds super bad, but I was reading up and it has to do with drive line slack? It only happens when I don't match the revs perfectly.

You answered your own question. 1..downshift to 3rd and rev match if you really need such a drastic gear change. 2..if you're downshifting from 5th to 2nd and not properly rev matching then yes, I would expect a terrible noise due to the strain and abuse your putting the entire drive line through.

I'd re-think downshifting 5th to 2nd at 50.
