Don't mean to be an a$$, multiSS, but Camero was a settlement town in California. Camaro is the bad-a$$ muslce car Chevy makes. Looks like you definitely drive the latter...though you may live in the former...

This is probably a CV Joint Issue.

yes a TSB for the clicking sound from the half shafts in the rear. The fix is to add washers and new nuts

Corvettes have also had a problem with the axle nuts backing off, and the axle splines rusting and causing a popping noise.
There is just enough clearance in the splines that you get a stick/release action between the bearing housing and the CV joint hub, and when rust builds up, it creates the noise.
Sometimes, even if the axle nut is torqued correctly, you still get the noise if you do not also lubricate the inboard end of the splines.
The wheel cannot come off, but it can result in the axle floating on the spline more than it is supposed to.

I have this noise too, so I went to the dealer today. They checked it out, and have ordered me the washers, and nuts. The tech showed me their system, and it said that all cars built before June 1,2009 are missing these "thrust washers". They even have a new updated version, as the original number he had was obsolete.

The tech also told me that he's heard this noise on many Vettes too

Just got mine back. Nuts and thrust washers on both sides. Sounds gone. TBS # 09-04-95-001B if that helps anyone.

Exclamation

Thanks so much for posting the tsb. I just started having this problem well yesterday actually on my ls I was leaving a car cruisin and at around 20 to 30mph in town I started to hear this clicking sound. I thought I picked up a rock in to wheel or something. I pulled over checked the tires, didn't see anything. Checked inside the centercaps for the same reason and could find anything. I grabbed ahold of the right wheel firmly and shook the car side to side and I heard the car clunk and click. So I nursed the car home, took the center caps off and the beauty rings to eliminate the debris theory. Drove around the block, then shook the car side to side again and the noise was 10 times as frequent and twice as loud. I'll be taking my car to the dealer tomorrow. Again!

Had the thrust washers installed today. I'm happy to report that the click has disapeared.

I stayed with the mechanic while he worked on my car, and was suprised at how easy it was to do the install....
