Bad to try to start the car with the fuses pulled?
Simple question. I did the fuse pull, forgot the fuses were out and tried to start the car. Car does nothing.
I assume no harm done, but if anyone know for sure I'd like to know. Thanks

no harm. Basically you took the batteries out of the ECM. No ECM = no engine turn over

this. the fuses don't do anything per se, they just complete a particular circuit in the electrical system. if the fuse is out it just prevents whatever is at the other end of that circuit from getting any power. |

the computer is smart, if any part of the vital system is down it will send it into safe mode

too smart sometimes. I was driving down the road in my 07 altima one time and when I stomped the gas to pass somebody the battery must have shorted or something cause the whole damn car shut itself down. it had power, and would crank a little but wouldn't turn over. thought I'd broke the timing chain or something. when I had it towed to the dealership (was still under warranty) and the next day they told me it was just the battery I all but called them a liar. but the tech told me if the voltage drops below a certain point, I think 12V, the car will do that to protect the electronics. |
