Rant: People who pose as being in the military - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I encountered a guy on another forum who is posing as being in the military. When he was asked questions on the one forum, he decided to not make any more posts. I then was visiting a forum I have not been on in a while, and surprise, surprise, he was on that forum as well posing as being in the military. When he was asked the same questions again he got all hostile. He does not know the difference between basic enlisted and an officer. He claims hes going to be making 85k a year, yet when further asked about this he started back tracking. He has no college degree, so we all know that he is not an officer. The dude is a tool. This kinda thing pisses me off, when there are actually people who do serve, and are proud to serve, and then comes along a fake that tries to be cool. Sorry for the rant.

Yea 85 just does not happen unless your a General or an SES.

Well Colonel or GS15 could with some years but still that's money 99% of military or civil service will never see.

Had a guy claim to me he was an x Navy Seal once.

Only he didn't know I worked in USAF personnel at the time so I called the Navy and they said he was kicked out for drug test fail and was a bell ringer at SEAL school. (Army, Navy, USAF use same personnel systems, tri services).

I was a contractor then later got into civ service. Never active I had bad back so could not do the running required. I can't run basically.

I think what he meant was that some people try to act all big and bad just because they are in the military and they use it to their advantage to try and make themselves seem cooler.

Yeah man, there's a douchebag around here that's been saying he's about to go off to boot camp for like, 2 years. And before that, he had a MMA fight coming up.

Half of my family are in the military, and my brother's been a Marine and is in the Army now, and I despise people that tell everyone they're going to try to sound cool or badass. They're nothing but losers that couldn't even make it.

I didn't make quite that much when I was a General during the Korean war and later, Seargent Major during Vietnam and I got a pay raise for all my work as a Cammando during the Second Iraq war. Today I'm over here in Afganstan infiltrating the Afgani folks.

It reminds me of when I fought at Gettisburg and had my horse shot.

But seriously, As a Desert Storm vet, it pisses me off too.
