Uh oh
So I tried to do a burnout in my 2011 SS M6, and I failed tremendously I dumped clutch at 4 grand, held the brake down as hard as I could, then the car just slowly revved down and stalled, what did I do wrong here? Also when I came back around I seen that there was only one black mark on the road and I am in panic mode is my rear end shot just because of one attempted burnout?

you really shouldn't dump the glutch at 4K fwiw - you could break an axle.

Well... If nothing went BANG in the rear end and the car is still moving, you're fine there... more than likely.
Did you turn off traction control? Holding the button for 7 seconds? 4k drop isn't smart... even with that dumb ass launch control the car has. You could have glazed your clutch over a little it it was slipping. You're probably fine, just don't try that again. Sent while on baby duty.... please sleep |

Disengaged trac ctrl didnt hold it down for 7 secs though when the car died and completely shut off I heard a thud not a bang sounded kinda like the load on the drive train settled, or was that my rear end breaking? The car drives normal and all.

If you can still drive the car then your rear end didn't break. Though you may have done some damage to the gears

Well for one thing you don't hold the brakes down as hard as you can. You also didn't turn all the nannies off. Between the two you stalled it.

Easy there! Its an art to do a brake hold while burning out with an M6 car. The brakes on these cars are monsters! You don't want to stand on the brakes very hard, just enough to hold it still until the rear tires get going. I suggest a line lock for nice big exhibition style burnouts, much easier on the car and brakes.

The thud was probably just the car stalling since you were in gear.

Its possible that the one wheel burn out was due to you not disabling the stabilitrack though. If the car thought the a$$ end was coming out it would have modulated the brakes to stop it, possibly applying more brake to one rear wheel, hence the 1 wheel black mark..
If it continues to do 1 wheel burnouts with all the nannies off... its probably the rear end clutches. From what I have read on this site it apparently does not take much to burn the stock clutches out in the rear end, its entirely possible thats whats happened here. I am waiting for my SS to start the one wheel BS before i upgrade the whole rear end with new gears and the JRE goodies.
