Welp... I was hoping that I got lucky any my car didnt have this problem, but I guess it was too good to be true.
I tried to take off into heavy traffic on my way to work so was "gettin with it", not really more than I have a couple times in the past, and wouldn't you know it.... BAM clutch sticks half way up while taking off in FIRST gear. Didn't realize it until I hit about 4500rpm and realized I wasn't really moving as fast as I should have... BURRRRRNIN clutch smell, immediately called the service dept at the local dealer. Guy promptly read me the letter about letting the clutch out slowly while using launch control... Asked if I was using launch control... "No, I was not "launching" into traffic on my way to work"... What the hell. Seems to me the clutch is chattery when taking off now, and it will suddenly HOOK when taking off. Is this my imagination? Dealer says they cant find anything on it, I told them about the redesigned pressure plate, and TOB, but they were clueless... Crap... Guess I should also mention I just rolled over 5000 miles today. I have 60 passes on my clutch, no issues. Now the output shaft that's another story. Sliding in a ACT dual disc while they are fixing the tranny.
Stock clutch is disposable if you drive it like you stole it. |

mines messed up to, dealer tells me that its normal to engage at the top of the petal"they all do" is what Im told, well mine didnt use to, the response was,"thats because its finally seated" what tha, well what about the spongy petal that I have now- "thats normal feel for a hydraulic clutch" again, what tha, I have done easily 10,000 clutch jobs in the 20 yrs of being a mechanic, retired now thanks to a 18 wheeler plowing me, but anyway these symptoms were always trouble signs of a failing system!

I've been lucky. I run my car hard and she makes me smile. Though I have some concerns about my clutch right now, and even if I had to replace it, I wouldn't buy anything else. |

BMW's are for girls, and Mustang's are played out. You want a reall mans car but don't want the responsiblity. The Camaro is a fabulous vehicle if you break it in as with any other new car, learn to drive it correctly, and not willing to spend a few extra dollars to beef it up if you want it to perform like a true race car.
I know people with BMW's who are serious drivers, and they're doing the same upgrades as anyone else.

past few mornings mine has stuck just outside of engagement. Its that way when i go out to the car to start up, havent touched clutched except from night before. Its really really odd, it "falls" down overnight, i verified it this weekend...
I don't know WTF is going on here, but I'm taking the car in Monday or Tuesday, and giving GM Customer Service a call...

Don't waste your time with GM clutch parts
I've had the "good" fortune of having my local dealer go in and replace all my clutch parts for the second time now, since GM revised the clutch and pressure plate, but GM hasn't gotten it right since the C5 Vette's clutch, and ours is basically the same POS that's been failing those guys in the Vettes. It's not my dealer's fault, but word of advice for anyone on this forum, spend the money and just buy a good aftermarket setup. I'm waiting on Centerforce to complete their dual-disk setup by end of this month or November sometime, and I'll use that, along with the Keisler hydraulic system that replaces all that plastic "mass-production" garbage that GM uses for the slave, the lines, etc. with Billet aluminum parts and have $2000 invested in a clutch that'll handle 1200hp but will be streetable. Sux to have to spend your own money, but if you want it done right.... Centerforce also has a cheaper dual-friction setup that's only about $400, but the Keisler parts are around $625 or so.
If you check the Ford forums, the Disgustang owners are seeing similar problems with sticking pedals, so switching to the Dark Side won't bring you any more peace either. Welcome to the assembly line.... |

I think he might have over-stated the BMW thing but you get his point...If you want the best and most reliable..you will just have to do it yourself...pure and simple. If you want a car that will perform to its full potential.... then keeping it stock isn't an option.
