All B-J has done for the guy/gal that wants to get into old cars is drive up the price of them.
when I started building street rods some 35 plus years ago you could buy a project car to start on at a good price.
Even 10 years ago you could still get a good buy.
Now, everyone who has anything old will say "Will I saw one on B-J sell for...., and mine must be worth that much".
Don't get me wrong, I still watch it but fill sorry for the guy/gal wanting to get into the hobby.
Yes, the people that bid mega bucks for charity cars know what they are buying, A tax write off.
And B-J is all the way to the bank.

My guess, makes money. Lots of it

Seems to me, there are five types of people who go to the auction:

1. Uber-wealthy buyer, cost no option
2. Rich folk looking to score a car w/ little effort or thinking
3. Maxed-out people who are financed to the hilt, looking to "look big"
4. Enthusiasts checking out the awesome car-candy (and maybe hoping to score)
5. The social hour

Reminds me of the loon I met while trying to buy a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T

Told me he saw cars like his sell for $60k on B-J. His car was a #4 condition car, $10k on its best day.

I hear ya'

There were a lot of cars that went lower than i expected them to, some pretty good deals.

The Rick Hendrick car is beautiful. Love the ZR1 style hood window and some of the exterior mods. The carbon fiber splitter and diffuser were cool looking. Love the wheels too.
I like the pace car because it reminds me of the 1969 Camaro pace car. The orange stripes and graphic on the doors is perfect. There are also some cool subtle changes to the interior. I'm not a big fan of the convertible Camaro but I'd roll the pace car.

Goes to show, one doesn't need a bunch of stripes and other add-ons to try to build some "flash" First-rate work is always appreciated by enthusiasts when noticed - and thank you for noticing!
