Dealer installed swirl marks...

I'll keep this short since I need to go to bed real soon, but thought I'd get some feedback on how to handle this...

Bought my car out of state, about 3 hours away. Picked it up at night.
Noticed some swirl marks and what was hard to tell what it was at the time on the hood. Almost like a haze thing- they said it'd probably buff out.

Got it in writing that I could take my car and had the hood buffed, and if that didn't fix it- they'd replace the hood with another car on their lot.

After a couple washes I've noticed this car has a few spots where it looks like a rookie in a body shop / detail shop took a buffer to it. There are swirl marks in the size and shape of a rotary or orbital buffer under direct sunlight and under bright lighting like a QT or RaceTrack.

I asked the salesman before I bought it if it had any paint or body work done since I noticed those marks on the hood, but he said no. (I believed him because it was pulled off the truck THAT DAY- there was even some white plastic on the car when I picked it up that had to be removed)

So, with all this being said- what do I do? The hood is easy, sorta... Take time off work, get it professionally buffed, and if that doesn't work take it back to OK and swap hoods. But I noticed a spot like this on the drivers side quarter panel.

Any advice before taking any steps?

When did you take delivery of the car? Was it a dealer trade or straight from the factory?
I think you will be hard pressed to prove the dealership did the damage to the paint and not you or someone else during your time of ownership.
Think it will turn into finger pointing unless you have a really great dealer.

Take it back to the dealer, simple. Don't except something new that has flaws. Simple.

I wouldn't let them touch it again, ask for cash compensation.

The longer you wait the easier it is for them to say you did it.

my car arrived, and I watched it come off the truck.

It had 3 circles about the size of a buffer pad on the passenger side.

it has to be from the robots IMO....All 3 of mine polished out quite easily. If you want to make the dealer responsible for a buff job, in hopes they make it shine then do so, or pay to have the car done by a pro yourself.

Take it back. Honestly I think the paint job sucks on mine and I bought it brand new. Still love the car but it definitely has some issues.

FYI, It is common when the car is coming down the line at the plant, that if they spot an imperfection in the paint, a person rub's/buffs it out right there.

That may or may not be what happened with your car.

What color? Take it to a pro body shop. Really think on this one, I had some marks in paint, had them removed and they went thru the clearcoat. I bought a perfect hood on craigslist to replace it, got lucky. there are some real fine scratches, I'm living with them.

Take it back to have the dealer fix them or since it is a long drive I would check to see what it would cost for someone local to fix the marks. Let the dealer pay for it.

Thanks guys. To answer some questions I picked the car up September 30th. The dealer knows (may not admit remembering) but they knew I had concern of some markings on at least the hood. Since I have paperwork saying they owe me either it to be buffed out or replaced I should be covered there.
Only problem is after a couple washes and the wax is gone- I've seen it other places. Well, just a bit more on the hood, and the quarter panel.

I just don't know if it is something that needs re-paint or if a professional detailer or body shop can get out.

I don't have a pic of it right now, but can get some up. It looks like what I've read is called hologram. This is what it looks like- only not nearly as bad.

It has to be the right light and angle to see it, but when I do see it, it is very displeasing.

So take it to a local body shop or dealer, and get their opinion.

That's the plan- just wondering everyone else's thoughts on how to handle it with the dealer.

Less than a month into ownership of the car and I'm already close to calling my attorney about my scratched up glass from the tint shop, and finding more paint issues as the coat of wax wears off from the detail job they did prior to picking it up...
