Magnaflow Axel-back vs MRT 2.0 Axel-back

I just purchased and installed a Magnaflow Axelback exhaust system and noticed it has a bit of annoying rasp when I hit mid to high RPMs (still sounds better than stock though). Is there a way to alleviate this or should I just sell my Magnaflows and go for the MRT 2.0?

In almost all vids of the MRT 2.0 I noticed it had nice low growl and virtually no annoying rasp.

I am also installing BBK headers with highflow cats I am not sure how this will effect either exhaust system.

Your magnaflow rasps? If you go with MRT its going to be the same or worse. The louder an exhaust is, the more probability it will rasp. Now, here's a question for you. Does it only rasp when you first start it up and go or also when its warm? My car can rasp when cold but once I warm it up, I can't get it to rasp at all.

BBK headers are going to introduce a lot more rasp since they make everything louder. A magnaflow resonated x-pipe will tone down all rasp but it will also quiet your exhaust also. Its a give and take kinda thing.

Well said.

make sure there are no leaks, weld them up and get rid of the clamps.

I am not sure if its a rasp but sounds a little like that, kind of "rattle-ly" if that makes sense. I am wondering if I can eliminate it completely or switch out to a more aggressive exhaust with less rattle. (not my car btw)

Unless I just can't hear it, thats just the way our cars sound. Your really not going to get away from that sound.

I don't know this sounds a little more refined.

My MRT 2.0 sounds the same as these videos and mine is welded. Think that is the way they sound.

Just me, but I absolutely love the tone of my custom magnaflow exhaust + resonated X muffler. It just needs a little more volume and a little more growl and I think I can get some of that by deleting the stock resonators.

If I was going BBK LT headers I wouldn't change a thing....I love that combo.

Here is that with OBX LT headers but no cats:

Here is BBK LT headers with magnaflow axle back (same yellow car as above). I think it sounds great, but there is a bit of rasp under revs...but I love that tone.

Have you thought about getting a MBRP catback?

One of the things I've discovered is that its really hard for this car not to rasp when you rev. For this reason I don't really rev my car at all.

I hate when cars rasp under acceleration though. My friends car sounds like the import from hell because of his exhaust and I hate it. My car is a little more toned down and I love it. Plus no annoying buzz in my ears when I accelerate as opposed to the swarm of bees you hear from his when accelerating.

KM... If you want a little more tone or want it a little louder, I would highly suggest a rear cat delete. I did it and it made my car louder! With that x-pipe you can be pretty much sure your car won't rasp.
