HD Drivetrain??

Is there any specific information on how the ZL1 drivetrain compares to the SS? HD Rearend, axles, tranny, etc?

I'm sure they kept it beefy like the 5G drivetrain. I know on all their performance cars they put them through some rigorous tests. They try to break them so we won't. Wel atleast at stock HP/TQ. If I remember correctly GM did something like 600 clutch dumps at 4000 rpm on the 5G ZL1 during testing.

GM seems to do a remarkable job at overbuilding their components. I have a Chevy SS and am on those forums. There are guys that are running in the 10's, putting down DOUBLE the factory power and have no problems at all with the rear, transmission, clutch etc. I have no doubt the ZL1 will be stout, to say the least.

Gotta believe this MXO tranny is tough. Considering the HP of the ZL1 and the Raptor with 4WD. All these factors have to be hard on a tranny and I'm sure both manufactures have beat them up to death. That tranny video also claims the simulator puts more stresses and forces than any natural environment can and they hold up.

Time will tell I guess...

The manual ZL1 is using the same rear carrier as the manual SS.
Auto 10 speed is also using the same as the auto 8 speed from the SS

Should be, as the 8L90 is rated to something like 738lb/ft.

8L90 is 635ft.lbs max engine torque with a max gearbox torque of 738ft.lbs.

http://www.gmpowertrain.com/VehicleE...nProducts.aspx

A10 should be as strong, if not slightly stronger for sure. Currently, the only thing with a higher max gearbox torque (gas applications) is the all mighty 6L90 with 885ft.lbs, but has a lower engine max torque of 531ft.lbs. The Allison 1000 has 765ft.lbs input torque but they don't have the gearbox ratings lol.

So that 531 is max engine output it can handle? In that case ZF makes one considerably stronger. The ZF 8HP90 is rated for 663ft-lbs for gas engines and 737 for diesels.

For the max HP rating for the 6L90 yes. The 8L90 max input HP is 650hp, max input torque is 635ft.lbs and gearbox max torque is 738ft.lbs.
