Exhaust Install Question - Muffler shop or Performance Shop

Does anyone have opinions about getting the exhaust installed by a local muffler shop (cheaper -- to save a few bucks) or is it better and more effective to have a car performance shop (such as Livernois, Jannetty, etc...) install it?

If you're just doing cat-back, a muffler shop should be fine. If you're doing headers and/or cats, I would go with a perf shop. Also, this should be posted in the Exhaust section.

definately do it yourself man. If you are doing Headers get a friend to help. If just cat back you can do it. i did mine in about two hours. That includes taking off the old set.

have it done by a shop and have them weld em in...no chance of leaks afterward from expansion of the joints.

Performance shops aren't always expert exhaust shops.
Exhaust shops deal with it all day long and have seen it all. Challenges are easily handled. Performance shops either have an exhaust expert on staff of they don't.
Installing systems that are already built for the car can easily be done in your driveway. It is nice to have stuff tacked though, the slip fittings and bands clamps do not do as good a job of holding things in places the way flanges do.
