HP & Torque question
Teach a fellow camaro owner about what's average and what's not. The 2013 v6 has 323 hp @ 6,800 rpm; 278 ft lb of torque @ 4,800 rpm. From 1 (to being the worst) to 10 (being the best). where does the v6 falls under? a 1 would be like a geo metro and the 10 would be like a ZL1. is our car (V6) average or just a little better than average?

If your talking about what matters it's actual hp is in the 200s I believe.
Not sure of the number. It's peppy for a small engine in a fat car. But that's about it. Can be beat by a simple truck. Civics. Was just meant to be powered by a beast

Based on a 1-10 scale, I would give it a 6 ...

I'm going to give it a 6 or 7. Based on flywheel HP at 323, that's nearing the naturally aspirated goal of 100 HP/liter, which at least used to be magical territory. Using DI tech, along with a 4 cam set-up with variable valve timing makes it a very sophisticated power plant.
Once you start getting into how the whole package works in a car weighing over 3800 lbs wet, you start to get bogged down a touch. It's no slouch, but it's not setting the world on fire, either. John B.

It's not that it's a bad engine, it's not enough for the big fat ass Camaro. Even the stock V8 isn't really enough.
There are cars with equal HP/TQ or even less than the Camaro V6 but are way faster and handle way better because they weigh like 1000 pounds less. |

wouldnt give it so high. a 14sec quarter mile is rather slow. its not enough hp for that heavy of a car even a stock ss isnt too fast
