I use Royal Purple in everything. Hands down in my opinion the best oil out there.

Any fully synthetic oil that meets the GM spec.
Valvoline Synpower and Castol EDGE are two examples of oils that have now surpassed Mobil 1 on the standard wear test, and meet GM 4718M. |

I use RP right now but if you can prove to me Redline "blows everything else away"... I'll switch.

I remember seeing someone send out royal purple, penzoil platinum, castrol syntec, mobil 1, and castrol edge to get some vuoa's, and royal purple came back with the worst viscosity out of all of them. lol. I could search and copy and paste some test results... but you would probably still stick with royal purple. or you could go to the forum and learn what makes a good oil a good oil and what you want in an oil, and how there is no answer to the age old question "What is the best oil" because each person wants something different from an oil. one thing is certain though... royal purple sucks. haha now will you engine blow up because you are running xxxxxx oil in it? highly unlikely. but you asked.

Boils down to what was already mentioned...what do YOU want out of an oil? Are you going to change it on a regular basis?
If you're stock, and remain so, then you can't go wrong with Mobil 1, Castrol Syn, etc. I'm not sure which car you have as an LS is a V6 and you show V8 under your avatar. You do NOT have to be limited to the new dexos standards, but going with nearly any affordable and easily accessible "synthetic" oil you should be fine. Go to your favorite auto parts place and see what they sell. At least you know you can get the stuff. For those that claim one brand is better than another...when you're stock, I've never seen any issues due to lubrication properties of the oil, or lack thereof. If you're going to mod for power, only then you probably need to start worrying about oil wedges and oil analysis data, etc.

Chuck Norris doesn't use oil. He threatens the metal into keeping distance between itself.

17 yr user and fan of redline. With that said I also use Mobil 1 in our new Camaro and Redline products in my Nova. For my DD I use a good standard 10w-40 it has over a 100k w/ most of that in town driving. I bought it new and changed the oil every 3k. It doesn't leak or burn any oil. So as said above it really boils down to what you want to spent and how your going to drive it. M2C
