2012 CAMARO AUTO-DIMMING side view mirrors

I just purchased my 2012 2ss, and my question is? Does the passanger side view mirror also posses the capability of the auto dimming feature or is that just a feature for the driver side view mirror and the rear view mirror ? Thanks for the help.

My 45th does the same thing. I thought the R. mirror had the auto tint. It has the same ring around the mirror as the L. but doesn't tint.

ya same here. i could of sworn that the first night that i took it out for a cruze that the right mirror dimmed, but since then it has not. so either i was just to excited my first night with the car or it never did it all . it just makes no sence that the left would do it and the right wouldnt. RIGHT ?

well that answeres it. thanks so much just makes no sence. why wouldnt they add it on to the passenger side. just looks weird to just have one side do it. is that just me or any one else agree ?

Don't know, but its like that on the trucks also, only the drivers side dims.
Could be a safety issue, maybe they think if the passenger side one dims it would be too dark for you to be able to see vehicles.

Good point,I never thought of that.

I just purchased a 2012 SS and when the head lights are on the driver side rear view mirror becomes basically unusable in that it turns black. I have almost been in two accidents because i could not see. I am conscious of the problem but feel it is a real safety problem. I went back to the dealer and they said it is functioning properly. Is there a way to disconnect the dimming feature? I would rather it be a clear mirror.

You could check at the dealer & see if they can change it through the computer as to NOT dim anymore ? ?

I have a 2012 with the backup camera LCD in the rearview mirror, and it doesn't seem to dim, even though the driver's side mirror dims. Is this normal?

The auto-dimming is an excellent feature. I can't imagine not having this in my next camaro too.

Sorry to rush, but does anybody know?

I tried covering the light sensor on the dash (so the car would think it was dark), and shining a flashlight directly into the mirror, but that didn't make either mirror dim. Earlier this morning, I only noticed the side mirror dim (not the rearview).
