Flares: Form follows function; life is about compromises. They're not the optimum in looks, but they serve a very worthwhile purpose! If you don't like them--don't put them on your car. Simple.

Wow great job! I must be a moron because I can't get the stuff to work. I bought a kit for my black SS and for my wife's Cadillac CTS. I followed the instructions and even watched a video on You Tube on how to do it. I have tried it twice on both cars and everytime I try to wipe off the excess paint all of the fill paint goes with it. I don't know how to wipe off the excess without removing all of the fill paint. I tried waiting longer the 2nd time before I tried to remove the excess and it again took the fill paint with it.

Any suggestions from anyone?

Russ

Russ, I did mine in the sunshine and I have had the same issue as you in the past. This time I let it cure in direct sunlight for 15 minutes and I used a shop towel to put the solution on to wipe it off. In the past I have used too much pressure. You wipe really lightly. Just rest your hand on the car and wipe, don't put any weight behind it. Took me a while to get it all off but as you can see it was worth it!

Wow, that looks great! Sure beats spending 2K.

Just out of curiosity, do you drive on gravel roads? How many miles on your car?

I think its interesting that some folks have completely sandblasted gills, and others don't seem to have any issue. I wonder what the difference is. I have 10K miles on mine so far, and other than one faint scratch on one side my gills look like new. I don't drive on gravel roads, but the roads in metro Detroit are mostly crumbling so there is plenty of debris that I run over.

This is great news. Where does one get Dr. Color Chip at? I do not like the look of the various flares I have seen, and this is a great find. Thanks!

Haha yeah I drive 4 miles of dirt/gravel road every day, and I've put 80k on my car in the 2.5 years I've owned it
