My 2005 sti
I have gotten a few PM's asking about my car so I figured I'd make a thread. Hate it or love it here it is.
On E85 it made 295whp/333wtq @ 18psi on a very conservative dyno dynamics @ 5,000 ft with a 1.15 correction factor. Should be more along the lines of 325/380 on a dynojet. Stock LS3 make about 340 on the same dyno for reference. The car weighed 3430 with me in it, a half tank of E85, and the heavier wheels on. We could push it to 20psi and make more power, but this is my track tune so I need it safe. Once winter passes I'll be dropping in a new short block and a 3076r to shoot for ~475awhp. Will be on KW clubsports, adjustable sways, and Hankook RS3 next month FedEx willing. And yes, I hate the wing, but the car feels very unstable at speed without it, so I have to figure out something else before I switch it out. |

Cool car!
What did it dyno stock? And what did you do to it (and cost) to get 295awhp? I might pick up a STi for my family car in a couple of years.

Nice car! I've always liked the styling on that particular generation of WRX STi. I'm not too fond of the newest generation.
On the subbie though, I like that wing. Not to mention it comes stock with that wing for a reason (as you pointed out)

Catless helix downpipe ($100 used) Grimmspeed catless up-pipe with 38mm tial external wastegate (~$600) ID 1000cc injectors (~$500) Invidia Equal Length Race Header ($750) 3 port boost control solenoid ($120) Walbro fuel pump (~$100) E85 Here is the whole list, but a lot of the parts make no real difference in power and are there either because I got a great deal or because I will need them down the road anyway. One could make the same or similar power with just the mods above and a good tune. The stock turbo is the limiting factor. It just runs out of steam. You'll notice I make peak HP at about 5,500rpm, then it starts to fall. It's a hell of a power curve for road racing though. -Beatrush gold airbox (JDM YO! ) -ID 1,000cc -T1 top feed conversion fuel rails with line kit red/blue fittings -Helix catless downpipe -Grimmspeed 38mm EWG up-pipe with MVS wastegate (red) -NGK 1-step colder plugs -Walbro 255lph fuel pump -tactrix 1.3 -SPT catback -Invidia equal length race header -Torque Solutions billet pitch stop -Grimmspeed 3-port BCS -Turbo blanket -GMS turbo inlet -GSM Air/oil separator It's a great DD and would make a good family car if you're not trying to squeeze 5 adults in. I can drive it to the track, run down some very quick cars, then put on the blizzaks and drive it through 6 inches of snow no problem. Last edited by 8cd03gro; 09-11-2012 at 04:31 PM. |

1000cc injectors wow!, usually putting 600-800 is a decent improvement for the STI. Stock is like 540 or something if I remember right. I'm hoping to pick up a WRX in a few months for winter here, and then heavily mod it during the summer (alaska). I had one before, it was tons of fun.
