Angry ranting about a mechanic...

Long story...

Nov 08: car accident (all in the underside of engine). mechanic estimated 3-5 days to fix everything.

took over a month...and it was still missing a new throttle body cable.

march 09: they FINALLY ordered the correct cable (after 2 wrong ones) and i had to keep calling them because they never contacted me

later that same day someone noticed my under engine guard was hanging off, practically dragging (its about 15+ sq ft of hard plastic, if that came off on the highway i don't wanna know what cud have happened) and that cover was in the estimate! they charged my insurance but put the old one on.

i was really pissed off @ this point but i'm a nice guy so i told them just to order it and end this whole thing.

june 09 (yesterday) PS pump seized up - the radiator fan (they replaced) had been rubbing against the PS line and made a whole, drained the fluid.

i call their shop bcuz i figure its the stuff THEY worked on (fan, PS pully, and 2 other hoses and cables next to the PS line) they send out a tow truck and bring my car to their shop free of charge.

TODAY: i get a call from the mechanic trying to charge me $960 for the pump, line, and TOW...i told him i think it was their fault. he said 'no, its most likely caused by an engine mount because i think the engine was moving around when it shudn't be"

me- 'didn't u replace an engine mount too?"

him- 'no'

[btw, i STILL havn't gotten that under engine gaurd/cover]

so i checked the claim paperwork. they charged USAA for an engine mount as well!!

i've never even given complained to a manager about bad service...but i'm ready to take this mechanic to court. this is BS!

Did they replace the engine mount again when they fixed the PS?

they havn't done anything yet...i'm having the claims adjuster go back out the shop to determine whether or not they fixed everything they were supposed to (obviously they didn't...question is how much they didn't)

waiting for a phone call to find out what happens next

Tell your insurance about it, take it to another mechanic and have them charge the first one.

I'm sure your insurance company wouldn't mind taking him to court. Insurance fraud is a serious matter.

Definitely have the paying insurance company investigate. The repair center can get into HUGE trouble over this...

And don't be afraid to throw the military card. Being seen as taking advantage of service members is not a good thing...

Keep us posted.

sorry dude. What a POS.
