GM isn't going to pick your car up at your house. Try a different dealership.

Does yours tap all the time or just at start up? Sometimes mine taps for about 30 seconds then goes away. I just figured it was building up pressure in the lifters.

Talk to Nutro about this. Hes in Austin also. He took his car in to have the lifter tick looked at. They actually screwed his engine up, and ended replacing the entire thing. Like it was mentioned earlier, be persistent with taking it in.

Hello mojatto,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing similar concerns. I'd certainly advise you to contact our overseas support for Italy-based consumers at 39-06-5465-2000. Let me know if that works. If it doesn't, there may be other avenues we can explore to help you out.

Kindly,

William R.

I have actually been dealing with the problem for the past year as well. i ahve taken my 2010 SS Automatic 4 times about ticking/knocking with a wavering whistle noise on acceleration and deceleration as well. Each time I was told the same thing, "It is not bad enough or could not fully duplicate. Bring it back if it does it again or is worse"

Well today after driving for 30mins, I heard the knocking and lifting. It was the worse so far. I took another video of it. Drove straight to the dealership ( about 20min drive) and of course when I was there, it had quieted down some. My service rep Jon said he can hear the ticking and whistling but it wasn't abnormal enough or bad enough to warrant any work but if I want I can leave it with them again for a few days to try and duplicate. He also said he thinks its my CAI...and to put the stock back in....seriously...the CAI has been there since I bought the car 3 years ago! And i have changed the filter 3 times and keep my car clean!

Sorry I have a job and go to night school, I cannot keep doing this and trying to find a ride around. Honestly annoyed as well. It shouldn't have to be blowing up in your face to warrant a fix. Especially when my wife, who has no mechanical skill what so ever say "Your car sounds like S$#T compared to when you first got it!"

I really am trying to prevent more maintenance/cost than needs to be by just actually looking at it instead of just cranking the car every 2-3 hours to SEE if it does it super loud!

Thanks for your reply.

Today I have contacted this number, but it's the customer care for OPEL (GM group) and they don't offer assistance for Chrevrolet.

I have tried a few month ago but they don't understand nothing about these problems and i think that they are unprepared about this car.

If you have the contacts of an european customer care....maybe...it's better

The Tyler and Longview dealerships have refused to do the TSB work for my noisy lifters and horrible, squealing brakes. Really disappointing to not be able to get service after the sale.

The TSB says 2010-11. Being that it is a TSB, Is this problem covered if passed the warranty period?

Mines a 2010 L99 with 33k in miles and it has the same lifter noise issue at first startup in the early cold morning. Dealership is a bunch of morons and said the same thing. Just drive it. My dad owns a family auto shop we have had for years. He says the dealership is a bunch of morons and to find another one. You have to ask yourself if some of these dealerships do not know what the hell they are even doing most of the time.
