I agree. Boost reference port is on the back of the maggie.

That's why I said "if". Pretty sure one way or another boost is getting pushed back through the crankcase, or through the catch can.

I THINK I remember seeing some smoke coming from the fill cap at one point but I'm not entirely sure. My wife and dad said they heard some metal on metal clunking noises as well so I'm guessing the motor is boned.

I doubt I would trust a shop with my supercharged motor that can not even route a catch can.

I sure hope not. No reason it should have broke, there are MANY MANY setups at and above your power level running just fine for a long time.

Same here.Hope engine is fine. Doesn't sound good if you heard metal to metal and smoke coming out filler. Sure hope it is just bad can routing. Just toasted an engine and its never a great feeling. Ran great for 17 months. Wish you the best.

Okay they received the car and he said the motor sounds good to him. He's going to dig into her a little more and obviously replace the plugs. So far, so good.

Good luck (for a change)! You need it.

Thanks man. I'd love to say I'm done modding this car but even I know I'm lying.

Hopefully they will compression test the cylinders as they replace the plugs, and let you know the results for each cylinder.

Definitely, and a leak down test as well. A real simple check is to check for positive pressure thru the oil filler cap. If it is puffing air/smoke....not good. Obviously this only checks the health of the rings/ringlands. But if you were lean for any length of time the tops of the pistons get beat to hell and the thin ass ringlands on these OE pistons are the weak link.

A bore scope is also another great tool to use when the plugs are out. Poke the camera in the cylinder and take a look

This is a pic of my #5 piston as soon as I removed the head. Not the same pic i took with my bore scope but the scope showed the same thing. So i knew what had happened as soon as i started blowing smoke.

Heres a link to a thread i made as soon as it happened. Has some borescope pics

Nutro, don't freak out. You're probably fine. When mine happened i was in top of 4th at 150+ and let off gas and saw a huge cloud of smoke behind the car. Like i said, car drove ok after this just smoked real good in boost and the smoke thru the oil filler cap hole was very noticeable.

No word yet. I was hoping to hear back from the shop today with good or bad news. I think he said he had a couple cars that he had to work on as well as mine so I'm thinking he'll get more done on my ride tomorrow.
