Question Will there be metric display / gauges?

hi everybody,

as i'm not from the states i'd love to have metric dials and gauges instead of imperial ones.
i think it should be quite easy to change the board computer's language and display but what about the DIC and all the analog instruments? i would prefer to read oil temps etc. in centigrade instead of fahrenheit...

any information would be very helpful.

many thanks in advance,
spaRTan

Good question. How do import cars usually read in Germany?

Wouldn't that be one of those 'endearing' features of owning a Camaro import?

I am sure (like many cars with the DIC) you will be able to select metric options in the setup. In fact, we have seen pictures of the interior where the gauges were showing Km/h.

EDIT: Look at this thread. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10822 There is a picture of the metric gauges. The DIC is set to imperical, but again, I am sure it will be user configurable.

i dont know about german.. but here in United Arab Emirates we get all our cars in metric if the car is new

but we "import" used cars from USA with imperial

you need to ask your self... you have a Chevrolet Car Show... right ? go there and see the new caprice or aveo does they have metric gauges? if so.. don't worry 90% you will get camaro with metric gauges

Well, as germany tends to overregulate many things - especially concerning cars - it would be helpful to have at least the main information available in metric to avoid trouble with the german equivalent to the department of motor vehicles.
Import cars could easily be fitted with a modded speedo with a second (kmh) scale in the past. I don't know whether or not this would be viable for a brand new Camaro.
At the moment (and I've never owned an import car before) I'm quite unsure whether it would be endearing or frustrating.

AND: Do YOU want to go full throttle on a german autobahn and see a lousy 170 on the speedo (sorry folks, I had to do this... )? 270 sounds much better, don't you think?

that was a great hint. many thanks.
is the speedo / rev counter actually a LCD / TFT display showing the chosen scaling? that would be pretty good as I wouldn't have to do anything to modify my car...

this forum is great. fast and helpful answers just minutes away...

p.s.: you guys are just getting up aren't you?

I commend you, spaRTan, on your mastery of the english language. You write it much better than a lot of Americans.
Still no limit on the autobahn, huh? I remember speeding along in my Volvo at 130-150 and getting passed like I was standing still. You're going to have so much fun!

It's 10 AM in California,
and I'm sure there will be a metric spec Camaro.
Just like we saw for the Canada car.

still no limits.
lots of discussion about carbon dioxide, "green zones", downsizing and all that BS. people are going slower than some years ago because of the fuel prices but things seem to be getting better here in europe. we're still a people of car makers and car enthusiasts (do you call it "petrolheads" like in the UK or "gearheads"?) and thus it would be absolutely awful to have speed limits. keep your fingers crossed it never happens...

+1, Spartan your english is better than mine. But most of my posting is on the job, and I don't have time to double check all of my posts. I type fast and get back to work.

My uncle in Germany claims he saw a blue 5th gen a few days ago because he recognized the car from the pics I posted on my blog a while ago. I doubt it though Well the Nuerburgring is only like an hour away so maybe they were test-driving it in the area, but still... what are the chances?! I'm sure he saw a Challenger or something else.
