Why so much love for the maggie?

Just wondering why everyone seems pro maggie??? I plan on going Vortech when my 2011 comes in. They have been around a long time and some of the fastest s/c cars are Vortech powered and not maggied.

I welcome your thoughts

tell us why you are pro Vortech and we will tell you! LOL it all depends on what you are going to use your vehicle for and what you want out of it. If you want low end torque and grunt....get the maggie. If you prefer to get some spool and then some more power on the top end..get the vortech. They are both great power performers and very reliable. Just depends on what you want. Just my 2 cents though!

i like snail s/c but i don't like procharger's intake design. the vortech "looks" a little better. and the maggies are a bit simpler and target the weekend warrior, not the dedicated racer

Because thats all GM guys know and preach about... seems like a lot of us are afraid to take a chance on any other FI option except for a Maggie. I prefer a twin screw supercharger for the streets.

Then explain why Camaro, G8 and GTO guys decide to go with a maggie instead of other FI options that are price wise cheaper, make more power and produce better track numbers.....

Maggie was the first to come out for the Camaro and most probably the G8 too. If you're first to the market and have a quality product, you tend to be the front runner. Once the Edelbrock, Whipple, and KB get more exposure, that number will shift. No matter how well the PC's and VT's perform, they will always be the minority. It's not because of quality but the type of SC they are. The vast majority of people use these cars for everyday driving and like the lowend grunt. Personally, if I was wanting that kind of setup, i'd go turbo.

I believe they were pretty much first on the scene with the same rotor technology GM uses in the LS9 and LSA. They were the first to get CARB numbers for us smog-unfortunate folk, and flat-out perform. So far, at least at low boost, the numbers for all the current SCs out there are all pretty close, including the Maggy, so we know it'll perform. Personally, I prefer the look of a top mount and know there are at least a couple more SCs that are coming on-line right now.

The bottom line is, it's a great time for SC-enthusiats in this community. There's been a proliferation of blowers coming out for this car. Like you're asking, it's probably best to see if you can find people out there who'll offer you a little ride. I know I've recently been in a Maggy car, and it was friggin' cool. If I had a complaint, it is that I could hardly hear the darn thing. It does what it was supposed to do though; and that's go FAST!

Maggie has proven reliability, quality, ease of installation.

I have a Paxton (company is owned by Vortech) on my Viper coupe and I can't stand it. It is only fun at 5,000+ rpm and over 100 mph. I prefer the instant torque (full boost at 2,000) of the roots and screw type blowers.

No more centrifugal junk for me. Roots/Screw/Turbo is all I'll buy.
