What's up with Carmax... used Camaros for MSRP ???

Do a Carmax search and you will see 4k-7K mile used SS Camaros for around MSRP. It makes no sense. Who's dumb enough to buy them?

And if these cars were repo'd (no one rents SS's) then they may have been beat to piss before the repo man showed up.

I was hoping this recession would take care of them once and for all, but it wasn't meant to be.

Just a point of interest, Chevy dealers in South Florida are still putting a $5,000.00 to $7,500.00 "market adjustment" on Camaros sitting on their lots. They totally refuse to sell at MSRP, much less below.

Not true my friend...Maroone (all dealerships) is selling in-stock Camaros at MSRP and willing to drop the $500 dealer fee if you are about to buy. I just called today.

They do have a few "market adjustment" line items on the window stickers but salesmen are quick to say that was last years pricing.

I noticed that the 5th Gens seem WAY overpriced at CarMax.....people must be buying them though.

As far as EVERYTHING there being overpriced though, I disagree. When I was searching for my Corvette two years ago, their prices were VERY GOOD compared to other dealers and even a lot of private sellers. Same story when I've looked at the C6's they have recently.

Maybe it depends on what the car is

Hi Patriot, went with my friend looking for a black 1SS. Tropical Chevy was $5,000.00 over, Potamkin was $7,500 over and Maroone on Pines Blvd. was $3,000.00 over. These are the three in Dade and Broward that we checked. They must be more willing to deal further north where you are. Down here they always put Market Adjustment on any hot selling car. I had to by my 99 Vette in Kentucky because So. Fla. dealers did not want to go below MSRP two years after the C5 1997 model was released.

But I understand that most dealers are screwing people over in south fl it isn't uncommon to see market adjustments for 5 - 10k on maros and challengers. But go to Schumacher they will do MSRP i'm sure of it!

I used to work for Carmax and I can tell you that its a good company. I mean ya they might be selling the car at a higher price but that means people are willing to buy the camaro at that price since they realize how cool it is! also the reason why they dont negotiate is part of the business model. What is one of the worst parts of buying a car? the negotiations. That is why they dont negotiate because it makes them different from any other car dealer out there.
