Roto-Fab cold air intake with sound tube delete

Got my Roto-Fab intake today. Here is what comes in the box minus the shirt. Great packaging by Roto-Fab to make sure everything arrives in perfect condition. Will post install pictures as well.

Turned the plate around and installed the red Roto-Fab decal. Which way do you prefer?

Sorry!! Going to have to wait till tomorrow. They threw a football Jamboree in on us today out of town so did not get a chance to install it. I hate having something new and it just sitting there. Just got home and have to get to bed. 4:30 comes awful early!! I will get it done right after work.

So what are the pros and cons between a dry and oiled filter?
How often do they need to be cleaned?
How easy are they to be cleaned?

We have received many calls in regards to the benefits and difference between our two CAI versions. Here is a detailed explanation that can be found elsewhere, but I feel it is helpful here as well. Feel free to share this with others who are unfamiliar with our two configurations.

The 2016-17 Roto-fab Cold air intake system is available in two primary configurations. The first is our standard version with provisions to connect to the factory sound enhancer system. The second configuration features a sound tube delete option. This option includes a smooth inlet elbow without the sound tube connection, a block off plate for the firewall and instructions for eliminating the sound tube assembly. Both versions are available with a dry filter option. There is no significant difference in performance between any of these configurations.
The sound tube delete option offers a few advantages. First, those with other mods such as headers and exhaust don’t want additional sound inside the car. Second, the elimination of the sound tube system really cleans up the appearance under the hood. Finally, many have told us they don’t want to artificially enhance the sound of their car.
Every system comes with an anodized black logo badge with “Roto-fab” etched in it. Also included is a “Roto-fab” vinyl graphic in red giving customers the option of reversing the badge and attaching the red logo which closely matches the red font on the engine covers.

Roto-fab CAI, sound tube accommodation, oiled filter, etched logo.

Roto-fab CAI, sound tube delete, dry filter option, red logo.

Thanks again to everyone for your feedback and support during our 2016 CAI release.

It is recommended that the dry filter is cleaned once per year. One advantage to a dry filter is that there is no cleaning kit or solvent required for maintenance. Just a quick blowing off!

It is recommended that the oiled filter is inspected every 6,000 miles. If there is dirt or debris built up to the height of the filter mesh, it needs to be cleaned. For normal driving conditions, cleaning is required every 10-12,000 miles. As a side note, never use compressed air for cleaning an oiled filter.

In terms of power, the oiled filter has performed slightly better for us, showing a 1-2 HP gain over the dry option.

I hope this was helpful! Let me know if you have any more questions on our system, or just CAIs in general.

Michael
