Blown bearing rod

Well at about 48,000 miles I blew a rod bearing. Very strange considering how well I take care of the car, changed the oil about every 4,000 miles. Two Thursdays ago while coming home I heard a knocking noise that you could only hear between 2,500 RPM and 3,500 RPM, anyways next morning took it to my local Chevrolet to have them look at it and when the service guy took it for a ride it completely ceased up on him and never turned back on. Long story short they covered it under full warranty and are putting a brand new motor in and I should have my car back sometime tomorrow!!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but glad to hear they are taking care of you especially since it looks like you have some mods (headers), does your car have a tune as well?

What is the maintenance history with you car and what oil did you use.

Trying to figure out if this will happen to more of us.

Certainly scary to read of all these failures.

What he said. Give us some details so we can look for any common threads in these engine failures. Glad they are taking care of you but sorry for your troubles. I'd be freaking out!

What is causing what appears to be so many engine failures? Is GM examining this.

Hey guys sorry I haven't been able to get on the forums until now. Anyways I picked the car up at around 6pm last night and wow! I'm very happy with the service I was given by my dealership. Everything was done in a professional and timely manner. The car is running better than ever and I couldn't be happier.
