Need help with stock bluetooth (alpine unit)

I am using Alpine (model INA-W910) DVD/NAV unit with the Scosche kit. I have two issues to discuss, both are minor.

1) The mute button reduces the volume but does not completely mute the unit. Is this normal?

2) With my phone synched to the aftermarket unit, I can dial through my cell phone or the alpine fine. But when I press the pickup/call button on the steering wheel control, my "OEM bluetooth" kicks in. I did install the steering wheel components and on-star module for the alpine unit. Is there a way to disable the oem bluetooth somehow? I want to be able to use the steering wheel controls to make calls or pick up calls.
