Zaino runner-up? I'm not hardcore enough

So can anyone recommend the best runner-up to Zaino for waxing the car? I want to protect it and give it a decent shine, but I'm not dedicated enough to spend all the time required to do Zaino properly. On my current car, I use Meguiar's gold, but I read it's supposed to be better for dark colors, and I'm getting a rally yellow. Would the Meguiar's Gold or Meguiar's NXT Tech wax do good on yellow? Or is there something else good to use? Thanks!

I think the shine from the Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax and Ultimate Detailer, both with the hydrophobic polymers, is the best I've ever seen - that's on gray. I don't think the color of the car has anything to do with the end result. Good wax will make any color look good, although some are touted to make black or dark colors look better...have a deeper shine or wet look as Meguiar's puts it.

Yeah, good advice. I guess I can always try one, and if it's not so great, wash it a few times and try another.

even the ZAIO topped off with some Z6 gloss enhancer spray does wonders.. EASIEST to apply too.

If you want to go all out and get hardcore, then you can step it up.

On my Trailblazer I just recently wanted to make it look nice so I used one coat of ZAIO with the Z6 detail spray, and Z8 Grand Finale Spray Seal to give it the extra pop. Took me same amount of time, if not less than it would have to apply any over the counter product. ZAIO goes on light and easy, and comes off even easier.. then top it all off with some Z6 and if you really wanna you can finish it off with Z8..

Now for when I really wanna get detailing and give it the best treatment I use one coat ZAIO, then 3 coats of Z-5 Pro(with ZFX added to speed up drying process) on dark colors (hides swirls) then 1 coat of Z6 spray, and 1 Coat of Z8 Spray and that is PLENTY for me. The result is amazing, and it shines and beads water for MONTHS afterwards, not weeks like every other product out there. I simply use the detail spray after every wash, and the vehicle looks amazing only giving it the whole process twice a year.

Other guys obviously use even more products and use even more steps etc.. but if you are not hardcore, get ZAIO and Z6 and you will be PLENTY blown away.. but be prepared to get hooked and want more.. that's how it started for me and I haven't looked back. (you can use Z2 in place of the ZAIO if you would like, but I would recomend the ZAIO just so you get an all in one solution)

BTW, here are some pictures I posted from another thread on here:

on the Camaro:

-Dawn-Dish soap wash to remove all old wax/contaminants
-Claybar
- 1 Coat ZAIO
- 3 Coats Z5-Pro (With ZFX additive)
- Z6 Spray in between EACH coat
- 2 coats Z8 Spray at the very end
- Tire Shine (not a zaino product, just some meguires or something)

Total Time: aprox 6 hours, including 20 minutes time (aka time for a beer break) between coats of Z5 for it to cure.

On the Trailblazer - this is what I recommend you use since you are not "hardcore"
(Keep in mind this was a quick detail a few weeks ago just to get it looking good until I get time to do the full treatment)

-Dawn Dish Soap Wash
- 1 coat ZAIO (You can substitute Z2 in place of this if you would like)
- 1 coat Z6 Spray
- 1 coat Z8 Spray (you do not need this, but since it is already in my collection I use it to really enhance it)
- Tire Shine (not a zaino product, just some meguires or something)

Total time: Aprox 2 1/2 hours.. And the results even on a light colored vehicle are still GREAT (Just not OUTSTANDING like all the extra steps would make it)

Both those vehicles look great! Augh, tearing my hair out trying to make a decision so I can buy it and have it ready. I'll keep comparing and researching.

It's really only like one day worth of work to do it hardcore. Like stated before it goes on and comes off really easy. Honestly though, it probably takes less time than getting something else in the long run because it lasts so long. I pulled my Avalanche out of storage in October, did 2 coats of Z5 in a few hours. Even after all the road salt and winter garbage here in Wisconsin it is still beading water better than 99% of the cars in the parking lot.

Just bite the bullet and do it. You'll be glad you did...

Oh and as a side note... The stuff smells so good you'll want to put it on your Wheaties in the morning

Thanks for the info on this. I had heard of it but did'nt know the details of the process. As a result of this thread I researched it further and will have it all here and ready to apply when the car gets here. Yup...even clay...as soon as it gets home! Thanks again

I've used Zaino for 10 years, I don't get this all day stuff. I apply a coat of All-In-One, wipe it off with a Micro Fiber towel and finish it off with a light misting of Z6 and another Micro Fiber towel.

Takes no more time than any other product and will out last them by months.

Thee month old Zaino

I wouldn't use second best on my new Camaro.
